Rahul Dravid is set to return to Rajasthan Royals as head coach ahead of the 2025 IPL season. The World Cup-winning coach's return could bring fresh energy to the franchise as they prepare for the mega IPL auction.

The 2024 Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 17 and branded as TATA IPL 2024, marks the 17th edition of this esteemed franchise Twenty20 cricket league in India. Organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), this tournament encompasses ten teams vying in 74 matches scheduled from 22nd March to 26th May 2024. Also, get the latest news of the IPL here.

It is being hosted across 13 cities within India, with Chennai designated for both the opening ceremony and the final match. The Chennai Super Kings enter this season as the defending champions, having clinched their fifth title in the previous season by triumphing over the Gujarat Titans.

The tournament format for the 2024 Indian Premier League has reverted to that of 2022, with adjustments made to the group order compared to 2023. Each participating team is scheduled to play two matches against teams within their group and one match against each team in the corresponding row of the other group, resulting in a total of 14 matches per team during the group stage. Following this stage, the top four teams based on accumulated points will progress to the playoffs.

During the playoffs, the top two teams face off in a match known as "Qualifier 1," while the remaining two teams compete in the "EliMumbai Indiansnator" match. The winner of Qualifier 1 secures a direct spot in the final match, while the losing team gets another opportunity to reach the final by playing against the winner of the EliMumbai Indiansnator in "Qualifier 2." The victor of Qualifier 2 then advances to the final match.

Ultimately, the team emerging victorious in the final match will be crowned as the champions of the Indian Premier League for the 2024 season.
