The 1992 men’s college basketball game between Troy State and DeVry maintains a record for having the highest-points scored in a single game. It’s also the game that has established several unbreakable records; among them, 399 total combined points, 135 points by one team, achieved by half time, and 51 three-pointers made by one team in a single game.
In the 1991–92 season, Troy university established a 23-6 overall record and although they were in NCAA Division II, they have since transitioned to NCAA Division I, where they have won six championships in the 2023-2024 season. They have also made it to NCAA Division I Tournament twice. DeVry University, on the other hand, halted all its athletics programs for being unable to foot the maintenance costs.
2. Loyola Marymount 186 vs United States International University 140 – (326 points), 1991
In this fast-paced game, Loyola Marymount scored 186 points against the United States University, who managed 140 points. The points by Loyola are the highest made by a team in the NCAA Division I, in a single game. The game featured a significant number of fast breaks and three-pointers. The combined total points of 326 is one of the highest to be recorded in college basketball history.
