18-year-old Freddie Gingell is a jockey with a very exciting future and hopes victories this campaign can propel a champion conditional charge.

Partnership with Paul Nicholls: A Winning Formula

Based with Paul Nicholls, Gingell has formed a strong partnership with the 14-time champion trainer, with these relationships being crucial for a successful season.

Gingell said: “I’m heading into my third season at Paul’s, and I can’t thank him enough, he’s been very good to me. I’ve had some very good rides out of him and it’s all going well at the moment.

“The three-pound conditional claim I carry is helpful and I’m at Paul’s every day and have the chance to ride some lovely horses,” he told SportsBoom.com.

“It’s nice to keep riding winners and see how the season goes. My dream goal is to be champion conditional, but that can change in a split second.”

I rode 27 winners last season, and so the aim is to get more than that.

Copperhead: A Horse Revitalized

A large part of Gingell’s success has hailed from the Tizzard team, where Freddie began his career.

The pair combined with veteran Copperhead to claim a valuable veteran’s chase at Chepstow on Friday.

Gingell said: “He’s been a brilliant horse for me. Winning at Plumpton back in May brought up my first double under rules and he’s been a very good horse on his day, winning the Grade 2 Reynoldstown and holding some really good form.”

“He lost his way a little bit the last season or two, but he has come back better than ever this year and now is like a different horse. This was a good race and it’s brilliant to win it.”

Memorable Milestones: First Grade 1 Win

Last season was a memorable year for the conditional who recorded his first Grade 1 success in the Clarence House aboard the late Elixir De Nutz.

“I’m very lucky to come from the Tizzard family, I’m very thankful to Joe for giving me lots of rides.

“My agent, Sam Stronge, has been very good for me getting me plenty of opportunities and obviously when you’re riding well more people want you.”
