When it comes to which casino game has the best odds, there are a lot of different factors to consider. You need to think about the house edge, if this varies depending on the type of bet, and whether player skill has an impact.

Thankfully, we’re going to demystify all of that for you. By the time you’ve read all of this, you’ll know all about the best casino odds and how to make use of them at online betting sites.

Casino Games with the Best Odds

When we talk about odds at a casino, we’re usually talking about the house edge. This refers to the percentage of bets that a casino will likely keep over time. For, some games, in particular slots, you might see this expressed as an RTP, which is essentially the opposite. The RTP stands for return to player, meaning the percentage of bets that the player will likely keep over time.

Tip: If you subtract the house edge from 100 you get the RTP and if you subtract the RTP from 100, you get the house edge.

So, what game has the best odds at the casino? Below you’ll find out!

Video Poker (Certain Variants) 0.5%

For beginners, video poker is probably the best bet in a casino, but you need to be playing the right variant. Jacks or Better is a good place to start, but check out the paytable before committing. Some games have a house edge as low as 0.5% but it can climb to 2% so it pays (literally) to do your homework.

Blackjack (Single Deck) 0.13%

If you’re not afraid of a little strategy, then blackjack has the best odds of the casino table games. You want to play at a single-deck blackjack table and play with optimum strategy to ensure you get the house edge down to 0.13%. If you’re not playing single-deck blackjack, the house edge can still be as low as 0.5% with the proper strategy.

Baccarat (Banker) 1.06%

Baccarat can be one of the casino table games with the best odds, but only on very specific bets. You need to bet on the banker to receive a house edge of 1.06% and remember there’s a 5% commission on winning bets on the banker.

Craps 1.36%

Craps is undoubtedly one of the gambling games with the best odds, but it is a little more confusing. There are a lot of different bet types that you can make and some have odds that are frankly, terrible. However, the don’t pass bet has a house edge of just 1.36%. The pass line bet also has a great house edge of 1.41%. Other bet types are best avoided!

Other Casino Games with Less Favorable Odds

Now that we’ve taken a look at what Vegas games have the best odds, let’s take a look at the rest. Below are the casino odds by game, for those with the worst house edge.

Keno - Up to 30%

When it comes to what casino game has the best odds of winning, one thing is for sure: it isn’t keno. This game can have a house edge up to a staggering 30%!

Slot Machines - Up to 15%

Not all slots are created equal, and some, like Mega Joker have a house edge of just 1%. However, others like Mega Moolah, have a house edge of 12% and some even greater. The other factor to consider when looking for a winning bet at the casino is that your skill can’t affect the house edge with slots.

Wheel of Fortune - Up to 9.19%

You’ll find different varieties of wheel of fortune games and the house edge will vary, but some like Even Dream Catch has a 9.19% house edge for specific bet types - best avoided.

American Roulette - 5.26%

While roulette is one of the firm favourites at many casinos, the American version does not have good odds. This is because of the additional zero pocket that’s found on American roulette wheels. To avoid this, play European or French roulette for one of the best casino bets with a house edge of 2.7%/

Highlight Player Skill Impact

The final point to consider when looking to find which casino game has the best chance of winning is skill. Some of these games have a house edge that cannot be changed, no matter how skilful the player might think they are. Others, particularly blackjack, have a house edge that can change dramatically if the player implements even basic strategy.

If you don’t want to have to consider strategy, then opt for high RTP slot games, baccarat, or craps. If you do want to get stuck into the numbers then choose blackjack or video poker instead.
