Betting Tips
SportsBoom breaks down our suggested betting angles, and we’ve even included the odd value bet, for the upcoming T20 cricket match.
- Afghanistan to Win: Afghanistan has shown that they deserve to be seated at the so-called ‘big nations’ table. Their T20 ability is underpinned by a bowling force which has been devastating for opponents, and all the while their batting lineup goes deeper and deeper down the order. Back the visitors with provident fund confidence here again!
- Team with Highest Score at 1st Dismissal: Afghanistan: Afghanistan has shown that even with a young opening pairing, the confidence and experience they possess is exemplary. There is a clear intention to attack from the beginning of the innings and put as much pressure on the opponent’s bowling lineup as possible. Back the visitors to have put the most on the scoreboard before they lose a wicket.
Head-to-Head Record
The head-to-head record between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan paints a rather gloomy picture for the hosts…
The last five games played - four in Zimbabwe and one in Abu Dhabi.
14/06/2022: Afghanistan won by 35 runs
12/06/2022: Afghanistan won by 21 runs
11/06/2022: Afghanistan won by six wickets
20/03/2021: Afghanistan won by 47 runs
19/03/2021: Afghanistan won by 45 runs
Zimbabwe: Current Squad
The Zimbabwe squad isn’t expected to change too much from their first two T20 internationals, and with respect, notwithstanding the first two encounters, we believe the following players deserve a closer look.
Ryan Burl: Making his debut for the national side in 2017, Burl has previously scored two fifties against Afghanistan and will no doubt be looking to add to his achievement – albeit in a T20 environment and not just the ODI stage.
Tendai Chatara: Known for his unique bowling action, Chatara is no stranger to wicket-taking for the national side. His rise to significance for Zimbabwe has been exceptional (and rather quick) given he was in and out of the squad for a while. Nevertheless, he was instrumental in a famous test win over Pakistan, and he will no doubt looking for a repeat here.
Craig Ervine: Ervine has had an animated relationship (to say the least) with Zimbabwe cricket. Whether or not he gets a game during this series aside – the talented batsman is never too far away from stealing any sort of headlines.
He would be a huge miss should he not be included here!
Afghanistan: Current Squad
Showing their class and ability over and over again, this Afghanistan side continue to impress!
Azmatullah Omarzai: A fast-bowling allrounder – what more do you need? He has shown time and again that he is a player capable of bowling during the powerplay or at the death, as well as hitting massive sixes to guide his team to victory!
He has been instrumental in seeing Afghanistan progress from a simply spin-reliant team to a well-rounded side capable of hurting any opponent.Haratullah Zazai: Famously landing back-to-back centuries against Ireland at just 20 years old, Zazai continues to find the headlines wherever he goes. He is a proven gamechanger and has been an incredible edition to this Afghanistan side. He boats statistics of 162 runs off just 62 balls and we’re not even sure that he has reached his summit!
Rashid Khan: Khan is the captain for his national side and is certainly a player to watch in this series. The attacking wrist spinner has dominated T20 leagues all over the world and is arguably one of the most feared wrist spinners in world cricket at the moment.
Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan Prediction: Afghanistan to Win
Zimbabwe v Afghanistan Match Winner
Afghanistan to win at 4/9 (1.44) seems as though it is another banker. They have a side who are able to put pressure on Zimbabwe from the beginning of the game whether they start with the ball or the bat!
Zimbabwe v Afghanistan: Top Batsman
Haratullah Zazai (Afghanistan)at 3/1 (4.0). If he is selected for this game and given the chance to play with freedom, his confidence will come through and we back him to top the batting score cards.
Overall, Afghanistan to win the third T20 international against Zimbabwe is our selection, the balance in their squad is undeniable and given their earlier performances in this series we can’t see past an Afghanistan win.
