Indian stars no doubt always find themselves in almost every cricketing record. This is because the depth of Indian cricket is massive and now and then there comes a player who makes himself a huge name and sets the stage on fire.

Quite a few Indian players have made a massive impact in the T20Is and the proof of that has been the time that they have taken to reach the 1000 runs in the shortest format of the game at the international level. Some big names don the list and it speaks volumes about their ability and skills.

Virat Kohli is the fastest Indian batter to 1000 runs in T20Is. The premier batter arguably is the best batter this generation has ever seen and his ability to adapt to all three formats has been outstanding. The right-hander surpassed 1000 runs in T20Is in just 27 innings and achieved the feat during the game against South Africa in 2015 at Dharamsala. He retired from the T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 and ended up as finest player in the format. He ended his career with 4188 runs to his name to go with 38 fifties and 1 century.

The second fastest Indian to 1000 T20 runs is KL Rahul. Touted as the first Indian 360 degree player, the right-hander set the stage on fire when he first arrived in T20 cricket. He made India win many games with his unorthodox brand of cricket and started his career on a dominant note. He scored 1000 runs in just 29 innings in a game against West Indies in 2019 at Hyderabad. He last played for India in the T20 World Cup 2022 and after that hasn’t featured in the format. He has slammed 2265 runs in 72 games to go with two centuries and 22 fifties.

India’s current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav recently became the third fastest Indian batter to hit 1000 runs for the national team in the shortest format of the game. Yadav arguably is the the best batter in T20 cricket. His ability to manufacture different kinds of shots separates him from others and makes him a batter whom all the bowlers find difficult to bowl to. He reached the landmark of 1000 runs against South Africa in 2022 at Guwahati. Suryakumar also became the second fastest Indian batter to 2500 runs. He currently has 2544 runs to his name at a strike rate of around 170 to go with 21 fifties and 4 centuries.

Rohit Sharma also is among the Indian batters who are the fastest to 1000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved the feat in his 40th innings for the team while playing against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The ‘Hitman’ was among the best batters for the team in the format. He also is the most successful captain of the team in the T20Is. He ended his career in his shortest format of the gale after guiding his team to the T20 World Cup 2024 win. He ended as the leading run-maker in the T20I, scoring 4231 runs in 159 games. He also hit 32 fifties and 5 centuries, which is the most by an Indian batter in this format.
