1. England’s 498/4 against Netherlands in 2022
England's cricket team holds the record for the highest score in one-day international cricket. The 2019 World Champions achieved the feat during the game against Netherlands in Amstelveen in 2022. The Jos Buttler-led side while batting first went berserk and showed no mercy on the Dutch bowlers. At the top, it was Dawid Malan (125 runs off 109 balls) and Phil Salt (122 runs off 93 balls) slammed brutal centuries. But the real show came from the bat for skipper Jos Buttler. The keeper-batter scored 162 runs off just 70 balls and based on his strong finish, England posted a gigantic total of 498/4, which is still the highest by any team in ODIs. They went on to win the game by a massive margin of 232 runs.
2. England’s 481/6 in 50 overs against Australia in 2018
Before scoring 498 against the Netherlands, it was England only who held the record for the highest score in one-day international cricket. They slammed 481/6 for six against arch-rivals Australia during a game in Nottingham in 2018. England started pretty solid with the bat as Alex Hales (147 off 92) and Johnny Bairstow (139 off 92) made the Australian bowlers look clueless. They set the tone for the team before it was Eoin Morgan, who hit a whirlwind 30-ball 67, that took England to 481 runs. They then went on to win the game by 242 runs, which was Australia’s biggest defeat.

3. England’s 444/3 in 50 overs against Pakistan in 2016.
The third-highest score in one-day international cricket also belongs to England. This comes after they scored 444 runs against Pakistan in 2016 at the Trent Bridge. This was the redemption period for England after the early exit from the 2015 World Cup. Under the leadership of Eoin Morgan, they made sure that they adopted the fearless approach and unfortunately, Pakistan was amongst the teams to be at the receiving end. Alex Hales (171 off 122 balls) at the top played a brutal innings while half-centuries by Jos Buttler (90 off 51) and Eoin Morgan (57 off 27) propelled England to 444/3 and subsequently won the game by 169 runs.
4. Sri Lanka’s 443/9 in 50 overs against Netherlands in 2006
Till the carnage by England thrice, it was Sri Lanka who held the record for the highest score in one-day international cricket. They achieved the feat during the game against the Netherlands in 2006 at Amstelveen. Sanath Jayasuriya (153 off 104 balls) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (117* off 78 balls shined with the bat for the team and put the opposition under pressure. Based on their sensational effort with the bat they ended up with a total of 443/9. They then went on to win the game by a margin of 195 runs.
5. South Africa’s 439/2 in 50 overs against West Indies in 2015
South Africa cricket team sit fifth on the list of highest scores in one-day international cricket. This is because they did the carnage on the West Indies bowlers during the game between the two teams at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg in 2015. Hashim Amla’s (153 off142) and Rilee Rossouw’s (128* off 115) batted pretty well at the top but their heroics were sidelined by the brilliance of AB de Villiers. The keeper-batter recorded the fastest hundred in ODIs as he scored a ton in just 31 balls. He ended with an innings of 149 off 44 balls that powered South Africa to a total of 439/2, winning the game by by 148 runs.

New Zealand batter Amelia Kerr has the highest individual score in women's one-day international cricket. The Kiwi batter slammed an unbeaten 232 runs off 195 balls against the Ireland Women in 2018. She also slammed 31 fours and 2 sixes in her innings.
