Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is set to commence their IPL 2024 journey with the season opener against Chennai Super Kings on March 22. As anticipation builds, let's delve into a preview of the IPL 2024 RCB team players list with price, encompassing team strategies, and potential lineups for both home and away encounters, along with key impact players.

Regardless of their illustrious history, RCB is yet to clinch an IPL title. Despite reaching the finals three times, they've faltered at the final hurdle on each occasion. In the previous season, a Shubman Gill century dashed their playoff aspirations, narrowly missing out on a spot in the Eliminator.

RCB concluded IPL 2023 sitting in sixth place, securing victory in seven of their 14 league matches. Struggles in the middle order and a lack of bowling support for Mohammed Siraj plagued their campaign, resulting in their failure to advance to the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.

Notably, they found more success on the road than at home, with tight losses to CSK and LSG at the Chinnaswamy Stadium proving decisive. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis emerged as pivotal contributors, amassing 1369 runs. Their partnership, alongside Glenn Maxwell, accounted for a significant 70% of the team's runs in 2023.

Heading into the IPL 2024 Auction, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had made significant retentions, securing the services of 18 players from their previous squad. Among these retained players are esteemed figures such as Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammad Siraj, highlighting RCB's commitment to maintaining a core group of talent.

Notably, alongside Faf and Maxwell, RCB opted to retain Will Jacks for INR 3.2 Cr and Reece Topley for INR 1.7 Cr, further strengthening their overseas contingent. With these retentions, RCB now has four foreign slots available to be filled during the auction, as they aim to fine-tune their squad for the upcoming IPL season.

Interestingly, the biggest buy for RCB ahead of IPL 2024 came when they roped in Australia’s Cameron Green in an all-cash deal with Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, for whom the team shelled out a whopping Rs 17.5 crores.  

Among the 11 players released by the franchise were notable names such as Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga, both of whom were acquired for a joint INR 10.75 crores during the IPL 2022 Auction. Additionally, pacer Josh Hazlewood, secured for INR 7.75 crores, was also released, which signalled RCB's strategic approach in reshaping their squad for the upcoming IPL season.

Heading into the IPL 2024 Auction, RCB possessed a significant purse valued at INR 40.75 crores, providing ample financial flexibility to bolster its roster. With a total of seven slots available for player acquisitions, RCB aimed to utilize their resources to address key areas. RCB’s selective approach secured them only six players.

Among their purchases, the most significant investment was in West Indian pacer Alzarri Joseph, who commanded a price tag of Rs 11.5 crores this IPL. RCB team 2024 players list also has mercurial pacers like New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson (Rs 2 crores), and Englishman Tom Curran (Rs 1.5 crores).

Additionally, Indian talent Yash Dayal was brought on board for Rs 5 crores. This strategic recruitment approach reflects RCB's intent to complement its existing roster with targeted acquisitions, ensuring a balanced and formidable squad for the upcoming IPL season.
