Suresh Raina of India

Chris Gayle from the West Indies holds the distinction of being the first to achieve the triple, completing his milestone with a T20 century against South Africa in 2007.

He is also the holder of the record for the first T20 century by a player.

Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene has the highest number of centuries in cricket of those stars who became all-format century scorers.

His compatriot Tillakaratne Dilshan is the only cricketer to be unbeaten in each of their debut 100s in a Test, ODI and T20I respectively.

Suresh Raina scored the quickest ODI century of this list - just 95 balls and also scored the fastest T20I century - just 60 balls. His knock remains the fastest hundred in all formats for those on this list.

Rohit Sharma is the only active player in the top 10, having led India to the Champions Trophy for a record third time this year. Australian legend Shane Watson also makes the top 10.

Chris Gayle is part of an elite list of players to achieve a triple century in Test cricket and a double century in ODI cricket.

Facts and Figures

Of the 16 names featured in this table, almost all of them are still active players.

Cricket World Cup winner David Warner scored the fastest debut century of those on the ranking, taking just 89 balls to reach 100 in 2011.

The most recent addition to the list was Australia’s Josh Inglis in January 2025.

Former India captain Virat Kohli has the highest number of total centuries across Tests, ODIs and T20Is from every player on this elite ranking.

All-Format Centurions: Who Could Join the List?

With Shubman Gill becoming the youngest member of centurions in all cricket formats, other promising young stars could be listed alongside him soon.

His international teammate Prithvi Shaw has been in impressive form, with his aggressive batting likely to see him to glory in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand had an outstanding outing at the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and is expected to continue the fine form for his country.

England’s Jason Roy has become synonymous with a hard-hitting style but many believe that he could translate that approach into the longest format.

Conclusion

Reaching a single international hundred is a remarkable feat, let alone scoring centuries in all cricket formats. The fact that only 26 players have achieved all-format centuries is a testament to the skill and determination that was needed.

Which of these iconic players do you rate as the most versatile and who do you think could become #27 on this elite list?
