PDC World Darts Championship Preview
SportsBoom previews the PDC World Darts Championship ahead of the 2025 edition! Inclusive of the latest news, betting odds, the championships schedule and a summative analysis. It’s simply everything you need and more ahead of the upcoming showpiece.
The PDC World Darts Championship gets underway on Sunday the 15th of December, with the final being held on the 3rd of January next year. All major sportsbooks have opened their betting boards for the championship – so get stuck in! Luke Littler and Luke Humphries dominate the early odds – and we think a winner might be found between them!
Hosted once again at the Alexandra Palace in London, you can expect another electric atmosphere with fans coming from across Europe for the showpiece.
The winner this year will walk away with a hefty 500 000 pounds, and at the moment last year’s runner-up, Luke Littler, currently dominates the betting boards. Defending champion, Luke Humphries, is a close second with the bookmakers, but whilst the usual festivities will be enjoyed, lets unpack who you could get behind this year!
Championship Betting Odds and Predictions
Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are the two favourites going into the championships – and rightly so. Our betting stratergy sees all roads lead to the winner being found between one of them. It’s been a year since Humphries edged past Luke Littler – and the early tips suggest a repeat might be seen at the semi-final stage this year - to claim the Championship in 2024, but since then they have both had incredible runs.
At the time of writing, Luke Littler has won the Premier League, the World Series of Darts and the Grand Slam of Darts, whilst Humphries has managed to claim the World Matchplay and the Players Championship. It’s incredible form to bring into the Championship and sets up what very well could be an absolutely brilliant affair.

Our Pick – Luke Humphries
Interestingly, it is Luke Littler who leads the overall head-to-head between these two players. He currently has an 8-6 overall record. Luke Humphries, however, leads 2-1 over Littler in finals. With that in mind, his performances throughout the season and the consistency you know you can expect from him makes his 11/4 with Betway incredibly attractive.
In fairness, he wouldn’t meet Littler in the final – given the draw they are likely to fight out the semi’s – but I think backing the defending champion at generous odds is the way to go here!
We think that at 4/9 with Betway and Bet365, the odds of seeing a 9-dart finish are too good to ignore. Get on!
Unpacking the Quarter Draws at the Championships
The first and second quarters pretty much pick themselves, with Luke Humphries and Luke Littler respectively. In the first quarter Mike De Decker is the current second favourite, but I can’t see him getting past Humphries here. He did beat the defending champion at the World Grand Prix and should be respected (along with James Wade who is another outside pick) but I think in Humphries and Littler we have our winners.
The third quarter is pretty open, Gerwyn Price – who won the 2021 edition – is my pick here, currently 9/2 with Betway, but this quarter truly is a minefield.
The fourth quarter will be an interesting one, Michael van Gerwen is a name who needs no introduction, but Gary Anderson takes this one for us. The Scot comes into the tournament in immense form. At the risk of sounding dramatic, the 53-year-old might just be playing some of the best darts of his career at the moment!
He is currently trading at 9/4 with Betway and is the pick for the fourth and final quarter of the field.
