Luke Littler Beats Martin Lukeman to Win the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts
Teenage sensation Luke Littler beat underdog Martin Lukeman, 16-3, in the final of the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts to lift the Eric Bristow Trophy on his debut year.
Teenage darts prodigy Luke Littler stepped onto the stage for his first-ever PDC televised ranking final at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts, held at WV Active in Wolverhampton.
The 17-year-old rising star produced a sensational comeback in the semi-finals, overcoming two-time world champion Gary Anderson in a nail-biting contest, edging the Scottish legend 16-15 to book his spot in the final.
Waiting for Littler was an unexpected adversary: Martin Lukeman. Ranked 37th in the world, Lukeman defied the odds to reach his first PDC televised final of any kind. Despite being 22 years Lukeman’s junior, Littler boasted a surprising edge in high-stakes experience.
As the Grand Slam title clash unfolded, one thing was certain: a new name would be engraved on the prestigious Eric Bristow trophy on an unforgettable cup collection Sunday.
The Nuke Storms Ahead
"Smash" Lukeman began the match strongly, racing ahead by winning the opening two legs. But it didn't take long for Littler to find his rhythm. The teenager quickly responded, firing five 180s within the first five legs and claiming the next three to move 3-2 ahead, highlighted by a spectacular 124 three-dart checkout.
From that point, the 17-year-old sensation was unstoppable. Littler stormed through the next five consecutive legs, establishing an early 8-2 advantage and putting himself halfway toward the title. His blistering performance saw him averaging over 110, while Lukeman struggled to keep up, averaging just 95.
Total Domination from Littler
Littler showed no mercy, relentlessly overpowering the 39-year-old Lukeman by winning the next five legs in a row, extending his streak to 13 consecutive legs. By then, Lukeman had only managed three attempts at a double, with Littler firmly in control at 13-2.
Littler is the Grand Slam of Darts Champion
The Warrington wonderkid kept up his relentless pace, taking the next two legs to move just one away from victory. Although Lukeman finally broke his scoring drought, ending Littler’s run of 15 consecutive legs to claw one back, the mountain he faced remained enormous at 15-3.
It was too little, too late for Lukeman. Littler sealed the triumph in the following leg, coolly hitting double 12 to win the final and etch his name onto the Eric Bristow Trophy.
In his debut year at the competition, Littler delivered a commanding performance, dominating Lukeman to claim his first-ever televised ranking title. The Grand Slam of Darts victory joins his growing collection, alongside the Premier League and World Series Finals trophies already sitting in his cabinet.
