Day four of the 2024 World Grand Prix Darts brought more excitement as the final four last-16 matches played out, completing the quarterfinal lineup.

The tournament's signature 'double in, double out' format remained in full effect, with all matches contested over the best-of-five sets.

With Luke Humphries, Rob Cross, Jonny Clayton, and Ryan Joyce already through, the question remained: who would join them in the next round?

De Decker Decks the Flying Scotsman

In a showdown between two of the season's most in-form Pro Tour players, two-time PDC World Champion Gary Anderson sought his first televised ranking quarterfinal in nearly a year, while Belgium's Mike De Decker aimed for his maiden appearance at that stage.

It was De Decker who came out firing, delivering a commanding performance with a three-dart average just over 100 in the first set, whitewashing Anderson to take an early 1-0 lead.

The match heated up in the second set as Anderson began finding his rhythm, scoring two 180s in the first four legs. With the set tied at two legs each, De Decker held his nerve, sealing the second set with a stunning 120 finish to move 2-0 ahead.

Though Anderson wasn’t off his game, De Decker proved why he's called "The Real Deal." He elevated his play in the third set, delivering a brilliant 160 finish, followed by a clinical 74 to complete a 3-0 victory, marking the biggest win of his career to date.

James Wade Breaks Down Gerwyn Price

Next, two former World Grand Prix champions, Gerwyn Price and James Wade, faced off in a highly anticipated clash, with both players feeding off the lively Leicester crowd.

Wade struck first, taking the opening set in typical clinical style, sealing it with his trademark double 10 in the deciding leg. Though Price showed flashes of resistance early on, it wasn’t enough to stop Wade’s momentum.

The second set saw Price miss three crucial darts at tops, allowing Wade to steal the first leg and follow it up with a smooth two-dart 96 finish, putting him 2-0 ahead.

From that point, Price struggled to find his form, missing several opportunities to get on the scoreboard.

He did produce a moment of brilliance with a 130 finish on the bull, but it was too little, too late. Wade, in his trademark methodical style, continued to clean up, cruising to a 3-0 win and securing a quarterfinal spot against Mike De Decker.

Joe Cullen Advances Past Daryl Gurney

The following match between Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney and Joe Cullen was far from a scoring masterclass, but it was one of the most closely fought contests of the tournament.

Cullen started slowly, falling 1-0 behind without Gurney needing to produce anything extraordinary. For much of the match, Cullen was playing catch-up, never managing to take the lead until the fifth and final set.

With the game 2-1 in favour of Gurney and two-nil down in the fourth set, the Rockstar finally found his form. Winning five consecutive legs in a brilliant stretch that saw him claim a hard-fought 3-2 victory and secure his place in the quarterfinals.

Dimitri Van den Bergh Dumps Dave Chisnall

In the final second-round match, England’s world number five, Dave Chisnall, faced off against Belgium's dangerous Dimitri Van den Bergh.

The early stages of the game were cagey, with both players adopting a methodical approach, resulting in a tied 1-1 after two sets. Neither seemed ready to take full control of the match at that point.

'Chizzy,' had chances to claim the third set and began to find his scoring touch, but the reigning UK Open champion Van den Bergh showed greater resilience, edging ahead 2-1.

Chisnall produced the first big checkout of the match with a 144 to go 2-1 up in the fourth set, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

Despite missing five match darts, Van den Bergh held his nerve to defeat the world number five and book a quarterfinal showdown with Joe Cullen.
