Beau Greaves Retains the 2024 Women’s World Matchplay Beating Fallon Sherrock in the Final
Beau Greaves wins 2024 Women’s World Matchplay, beating Fallon Sherrock 6-3 in the final.
In the 2024 Women's World Matchplay final, the top seeds of the PDC Women's Series Order of Merit, Fallon Sherrock and Beau Greaves, faced off at the iconic Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Route to the Final
Defending champion Beau Greaves had a relatively smooth path to the final. She dispatched Katie Sheldon with a 4-1 victory in the first round, followed by a 5-2 win over Mikuru Suzuki in the semi-finals.
Fallon Sherrock, the first-ever Women’s World Matchplay champion, had a more challenging journey.
After a dominant 4-0 win against Anastacia Dobromyslova in the first round, Sherrock endured a gruelling semi-final against four-time Lakeside women’s champion Lisa Ashton. Both players felt the pressure, missing a combined 41 darts at double, but the ‘Queen of the Palace,’ managed to clinch the win 5-4 and secure her place in the final against Greaves.
Electrifying Start
The firepower displayed by both players at the start of the game surpassed anything seen so far in the tournament.
Despite Sherrock's strong start, she found herself 2-0 down after Greaves secured an early break of throw.
Sherrock then showcased her skill with a sensational 13-dart leg to get her first leg on the board. She followed this with a 14-dart break of throw, levelling the match at 2-2 in the race to six legs.
Brilliant Beau
However, the 20-year-old from Doncaster proved too formidable for the former champion. Greaves went on a scoring spree over the next three legs, a performance few players in the world could match, surging to a 5-2 lead and coming within one leg of retaining her crown.
Back-to-back Champion
Sherrock managed to claw back one more leg, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to overcome the in-form Beau 'n' Arrow.
Greaves clinched the 2024 Women’s World Matchplay title with a 6-3 victory over Sherrock in the final, securing her back-to-back championship.
This triumph not only earned her the Women’s World Matchplay title but also automatically qualified her for the Grand Slam of Darts and the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.
