Forson Amankwah's inaugural season with Norwich City has been a rollercoaster ride, marred by injuries and inconsistent Championship results that have left the team in 14th place and now out of Playoff contention.

Undeterred, the Ghanaian youngster remains steadfast in his commitment to the Canaries, driven to help the club achieve its long-held ambition of returning to the Premier League.

Arriving at Carrow Road for a handsome sum of €4.5 million, Norwich's acquisition of Amankwah from Salzburg was tipped as one of last summer's most promising signings in the Championship.

The 22-year-old's technical prowess and ability to dribble past opponents saw him frequently named among Europe's most exciting prospects.

Unfortunately, Amankwah's debut Championship season has been marred by injury struggles, dealing a significant blow to Norwich City's push for a return to the Premier League following their 2022 relegation.

Though Amankwah has made a brief return from his latest injury layoff, teammates Gabriel Forsyth, Lewis Dobbin, and Benjamin Chrisene remain sidelined.

46TH MINUTE KNOCKOUT

It was a difficult moment as Amankwah covered his face with his palm, staring at his knee in distress. Substitution by then manager Johannes Hoff Thorup was inevitable, and the Ghanaian midfielder was withdrawn in the 46th minute against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup Round of 32 finals.

Amankwah described the moment as "tough and sad" in an exclusive interview with SportsBoom.com.

"It was a bit difficult for me to accept because we were down 2-0 against Brighton, and I knew the team needed me most. Then, coming into the second half, my leg gave way," he explained.

"Those are disturbing moments for every player, not just me. Especially when you're enjoying the game and have to come off due to no fault of your own."

Up until a few weeks ago, Amankwah had missed 15 matches due to the leg injury, which significantly impacted Norwich City's push for a Premier League spot.

NO REGRETS FOR AMANKWAH

Despite an unsuccessful Premier League promotion chase and struggles with injury, Amankwah doesn't regret leaving his European football experience to join Norwich City.

"I think it's too early for all these speculations. I've just returned from a long break and am focusing on regaining my form," he said.

"I'm extremely happy here at Carrow Road. This is the perfect time for me to repay the love shown to me by the fans during my recovery. Everyone here is like family. I love the atmosphere and the football culture."

"It's been challenging for all of us at the club, especially since we had plans prior to the start of the season. As a professional, you experience emotional highs and lows. But I don't regret coming to Norwich."

"We've learned a lot this season, and I'm happy about that," he said. "It's football – you win, lose, or draw sometimes. The most important thing is that we'll return stronger next season. It's too late for us to make a push now."
