2012: Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore) - Gayle continued his dominance in the 2012 season, scoring 733 runs in 15 matches, cementing his reputation as one of the most destructive batsmen in T20 cricket.

2013: Michael Hussey (Chennai Super Kings) - Known as "Mr. Cricket," Michael Hussey was consistent throughout the 2013 season, amassing 733 runs in 17 matches, providing crucial starts for CSK at the top of the order.

2014: Robin Uthappa (Kolkata Knight Riders) - Robin Uthappa had a stellar season in 2014, scoring 660 runs in 16 matches, playing a vital role in KKR's title-winning campaign with his aggressive batting.

2015: David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) - The dynamic Australian opener, David Warner, led from the front in 2015, scoring 562 runs in 14 matches.

2016: Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore) - Virat Kohli had a record-breaking season in 2016, amassing a staggering 973 runs in just 16 matches, including four centuries and seven fifties. This still remains the highest number of runs scored in a single IPL season. 

2017: David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) - Warner reclaimed the Orange Cap in 2017 with 641 runs in 14 matches, once again proving his consistency and ability to score big runs at the top of the order.

2018: Kane Williamson (Sunrisers Hyderabad) - New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson led by example in 2018, scoring 735 runs in 17 matches.

2019: David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) - Warner reclaimed the Orange Cap for the third time in 2019, amassing 692 runs in 12 matches. No other batsman has won the Orange Cap thrice. 

2020: KL Rahul (Kings XI Punjab) - KL Rahul had a phenomenal season in 2020, scoring 670 runs in 14 matches, leading from the front with his consistent performances for KXIP.

2021: Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings) - Ruturaj Gaikwad emerged as a breakout star in 2021, scoring 635 runs in 16 matches, playing crucial innings for CSK at the top of the order.

2022: Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals) - Jos Buttler had a phenomenal season in 2022, scoring 863 runs at a strike rate of 149.05. He scored four half-centuries and three centuries during the season. 

2023: Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans) - Opening batsman Shubman Gill 890 runs last season, at an average and strike rate of 59.33 and 157.80. Gill has been named the side’s captain for IPL 2024. 

2024: Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap for the second time in his IPL career. He finished the season with 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75, with a century and five fifties.
