Ulinzi Stars coach Dunstan Nyaudo slams Muchiri after missed penalty
Ulinzi Stars coach Dunstan Nyaudo criticizes captain Boniface Muchiri for lacking leadership after missing a crucial penalty in a 1-1 FKF Premier League draw against Tusker FC.
Ulinzi Stars coach Dunstan Nyaudo has slammed captain Boniface Muchiri for lack of leadership as his side dropped two crucial points against Tusker FC in an FKF Premier League match played at the Police Sacco Stadium on Wednesday.
Ulinzi Stars hoping to earn their first win of the season had a bright start to the match but fell back through a Charles Momanyi’s goal in the 43rd minute of the game just two minutes after a penalty miss by the soldiers.
MUCHIRI MUST SHOW LEADERSHIP QUALITIES
A visibly irritated Nyaudo admitted that he was disappointed with his captain Boniface Muchiri who for the second time failed to take the spot kick, handing it to another player.
Last season during the FKF Cup playoffs, the soldiers won a penalty against AFC Leopards and Muchiri handed the responsibility to Mark Bikokwa who has his effort saved by Levis Opiyo.
During the match against Tusker, Muchiri handed the responsibility to Hillary Simiyu who had his effort shave the crossbar to the disappointment of the entire technical bench and away team fans.
Nyaudo told SportsBoom.com,” I think the players can tell you I was so mad at that incident because as a captain you need to take care of the responsibilities in the team. The crucial penalties and free kicks must not be debatable, that is why you are captain.
So I have told him moving forward I do not want to see that again because we have drawn against Tusker simply because of his actions.

“When you’re a captain you need to lead from the front and in any case a soldier to say you must show leadership,” Nyaudo added.
26 DEPARTURES HURT THE TEAM
The 2010 champions, Ulinzi Stars, did a complete overhaul at the end of last season, ousting 26 players and promoted most of the current squad from the youth team.
After five matches, the soldiers find themselves in the side of the table, picking only three points from a possible fifteen.
“The boys are playing well currently, and I feel that it is a matter of time before we see the real side coming out. Injuries have also not been kind to us but i am happy that something good is finally coming out,” Nyaudo told SportsBoom.
Nyaudo’s side were dominant against Tusker FC, dictating most of the proceedings during the midweek fixture and earned a well deserved equalizer in the 48th minute of the game through Harambee Stars call-up Brian Kahero.
Ulinzi Stars sit fifteenth on the FKF Premier League log with three points after five matches.
