Former Nigerian international and Real Sociedad midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has identified Uche Chrisantus as one of La Liga's most promising young talents.

The 21-year-old Nigerian forward, who recently joined Getafe CF from AD Ceuta, has made an impressive start in Spain’s top division. Adepoju believes that with continued development, Chrisantus has the potential to become a major force in European football.

Chrisantus made an immediate impact at Getafe, scoring the equalizer on his debut against Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés. In the team’s second match against Rayo Vallecano, he was awarded Man of the Match and has since started in all of Getafe’s 11 games this season.

His performances have quickly made him an essential player under head coach José Bordalás.

Transfer Interest Grows from Top Premier League Clubs

Chrisantus’ early success has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs.

Reports from Diario AS and Football Espana indicate that scouts from Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth attended Getafe’s recent match against Valencia to monitor the young forward.

Despite this interest, Getafe has reportedly set a high transfer fee of over €10 million for the versatile player. “I can’t speak much about transfer rumors, but Chrisantus is doing well at Getafe in La Liga, and there could be opportunities for him to join bigger Spanish clubs,” Adepoju stated.

Awaiting a Call-Up for Nigeria’s Senior National Team

Although Chrisantus has represented Nigeria at the U23 level, he is yet to make an appearance for the senior team.

Adepoju, however, feels that Chrisantus could soon receive an invitation from Super Eagles head coach Austin Eguavoen.

“It depends on what the national team needs,” he said. “If they feel Chrisantus can add something, I see no reason why he shouldn’t be called up. He’s a talented player who can contribute to the national team.”

Adepoju Commends Iheanacho and Ejuke’s Progress at Sevilla

In addition to praising Chrisantus, Adepoju also acknowledged the recent performances of Nigerians Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke at Sevilla.

Ejuke has been a standout in La Liga, ranking among Europe’s top dribblers with 25 successful dribbles and one goal this season before an injury setback. Iheanacho, despite limited playing time in La Liga, recently scored a brace in Sevilla’s Copa Del Rey win over Las Rozas.

Adepoju believes both players are adjusting well to life in Spain. “Kelechi and Chidera are doing well at Sevilla,” Adepoju note

Iheanacho recently scored his first goals, and I’m confident he’ll keep improving. Ejuke has adapted quickly and made an impact.

Reflecting on Nigerian players making their mark in La Liga, Adepoju, who played for Racing Santander and Real Sociedad during his career, stated the importance of their presence in one of the world’s strongest leagues.

“It’s remarkable to see Nigerians doing well in La Liga,” he said. “For their first season in Spain, Chrisantus, Ejuke, and Iheanacho are all adjusting well. I believe they’ll continue to grow and show their quality on the field.”
