Akor Adams, Sevilla FC
Sevilla’s latest signing, Akor Adams, has arrived in La Liga with a clear vision; to make history with the Andalusian giants.
The Nigerian youth international, who impressed in Norway and France, is eager to bring his goal-scoring prowess to the Sánchez-Pizjuán.
After making his debut in a brief cameo against Getafe, Adams sat down for an exclusive chat about his first impressions with SportsBoom.com, his ambitions, and what Sevilla fans can expect from him.
I'm Happy We've Got Everything Done
Akors' move to Sevilla was met with excitement, and he wasted no time settling in. When asked about his early experience at the club, the forward shared his delight.
"I'm good, I'm very happy to be here, and it's been a very warm reception. The last couple of days have been a lot, but I'm happy we've got everything done, and yeah, we're here in this moment right now."
The Sánchez-Pizjuán is one of the most intimidating stadiums in Spain, but for Akor, it was an awe-inspiring experience.
"I think it was fantastic. The first impression will leave a very long one on me. From their end, I like it a lot, and I think the atmosphere is very positive."
"The fans are really, really good, and we should have won the game, but Espanyol was very defensive. Hopefully, we get the win in the next one at home."
I've Been Watching Sevilla for a Long Time
Despite being new to La Liga, Adams is no stranger to Sevilla’s rich history.
"I think I've been watching the club for a long time before I even had the thought or the dream of coming here, mostly because of what they have done in Europe."
"They have conquered Europe, basically, and I've seen many of their finals. For me, it's a great club, and it's a great pleasure to be here."
With several clubs interested in his services, Adams explained why Sevilla was the right choice."
"Personally, I think there's been a lot of history in the club, so I'm just here to tread the path of that history and just try to write my own."
"They have made the path easier for us to come through, and I just want to write a story with Sevilla as well."
I Could See Myself in the Team
Adams got his first taste of Spanish football from the stands before stepping onto the pitch.
"Watching the game on the Saturday, I could see myself in the team in the positions I could fill in. You never know until you start, for the most part, in football."
"But France is a different league from Spanish football, and I will just do my best to fit in as much as possible where the team needs me."
I Like Spaces, I Like to Score Goals
So, what kind of striker is Sevilla getting? Adams provided insight into his playing style.
"I like spaces, I like spaces a lot. I can play with two, I can play alone, and I like to help the team get out of pressure. But most importantly, I like to score goals."
"I saw the game, and I saw how they played, and yeah, like I said, I would see places I can fit in and where the team needs me, and I'll just give my best."
Moving to a new league always comes with challenges, but Adams insists he is prepared.
"Yes, most importantly, I am fit, and mentally, I am here as well because I've had a very, very good welcome since I came."
I Want to Replicate My Form Here
Having impressed in Norway and France, Akor is confident he can deliver in Spain, too.
"I'll be very happy to see that I come into a new setting, a new system, and I'm still doing what I have always done. In Norway, it was a very good run; I had a very good team, so it was not an individual performance, and thank God for that.
"Also, in France, it was the same for the early part, so I hope to replicate the same here and give my best."
Sevilla Belongs in Europe
For Adams, Sevilla’s ambitions align perfectly with his own.
"I think our target; I say 'our' now because I belong to Sevilla, our target is to go to Europe and try to do what the club is known for doing."
"Also, I don't just want to be a good teammate, but to give the club as much as I can."
"That's my target here."
Finally, Adams shared his emotions after making his debut in Sevilla’s draw against Getafe.
"It was an amazing feeling to step onto the pitch for the first time in Sevilla colors. Even though it was just a few minutes, it felt great to be part of the team."
"Now, I just want to keep working hard and give my best for the club."
Akor Adams has arrived at Sevilla with confidence and a clear sense of purpose. As he looks to make his mark in La Liga, his hunger and ambition could make him a key figure in the club’s push for success. Will he write his own story at Sevilla? Time will tell, but one thing is certain—he's ready to give it everything.
