Las Palmas vs Getafe: Tight Contest Expected

Las Palmas are without a defeat in the last four games at the time of writing and will be welcoming Getafe at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, looking forward to continue their upward trajectory in Spain’s top division.

Diego Martinez’s team have a balanced record at home so far this season, securing twelve points from three wins and three draws, with twelve goals scored in nine games. The hosts, on the other hand, are bad travelers with a poor away record.

Getafe are yet to win a game on the road in nine La Liga games, with only one point won from a 1-1 draw against Villarreal. Their scoring record is also the lowest in the league and will need some inspiration in a match we tip to be tightly contested.

Pre-Game Odds and Win Probability

Las Palmas Have a Slight Edge

  1. Home: 143/100 (2.43) 41.1%

  2. Draw: 53/25 (3.12) 32.1%

Head-to-Head record

There is always a goal or more in clashes between these two La Liga sides, with no contest ending scoreless in the last five matches. The overall head-to-head record is equal with two wins for either side, although La Palmas spent some time in Spain’s Segunda division.

Las Palmas Current Form – WDWWL

Diego Martinez’s team are on a good run of form with only one loss in their last five games. Mallorca was the last team to be beat Las Palmas with Johan Mojica securing the 3-2 win for the visitors in stoppage time. Since then, they secured themselves ten points with three wins and a draw, moving them away from the relegation zone to thirteenth place.

Their biggest win in their unbeaten run was away at Barcelona, whom they beat 2-1 convincingly. At home, they have been rock solid with only one goal conceded and three scored against Valladolid and Espanyol.

Key Players to Watch

  • Sandro Ramirez: Ramirez was the standout player in their last La Liga encounter, scoring the winning goal in the win against Espanyol. Coming in from the left in a 4-4-2 formation, he will also be key in putting in the crosses for the strikers.
  • Fabio Silva: The Portuguese forward is a central figure in getting the goals for his team. He has scored five and assisted twice this season. On a good day, he can be a menace for most defenders.
  • Javier Munoz: Fabio Silva will be best served by crosses coming in from the wingers and Javier Munoz is one of those on the team. The Spaniard has played eighteen times this season and assisted twice.

News

A few players have departed Las Palmas, while the team seeks to hold on to some. Ivan Gil and Fabio Gonzalez have departed as further interest mounts for other players from teams like Sheffield United.

Getafe Current Form – LLWLW

The visitors need a change in fortune following two straight 1-0 defeats against Mallorca and in-form Atletico Madrid. Goals have also been hard to come for Getafe who scored only three times in their last five La Liga games, two of which came against whipping boys Valladolid.

The potential to score goals and threaten opponents is there, however, they fail at converting chances. They had 55% ball possession and 18 goal attempts against Mallorca, and against Espanyol, they could have won the match with a bigger margin with 15 goal attempts, 2 blocked shots and 1 shot off the woodwork.

Key Players to Watch

  • Mauro Arambarri: Their top scorer so far. If they are to break the barriers and score against their hosts, then Arambarri is their man.
  • Luis Milla: Milla is second only to David Soria in terms of minutes played for Getafe in La Liga and although the team is not doing well, his match fitness will come in handy.
  • Christantus Uche: Although he’s scored only one goal, the Nigerian still has the potential to threaten on the day and will surely be looking to improve.

News

Looking to improve upfront, Getafe have sought out Barcelona attacker Pablo Torre who could be made available by the Catalans. Theo Zidane has been offered to the team by his agent while Omar Alderete is a target of several Premier league clubs.

Predicted Line-ups

  1. Las Palmas: 4-2-3-1

Cillessen, Marmol, McKenna, Suarez, Marvin, Rogriguez, Essugo, Ramirez, Munoz, Moleiro, Silva

  2. Getafe: 4-4-2

Soria, Rico, Alderete, Djene, Iglesias, Gomez, Milla, Arambarri, Nyom, Rodriguez, Uche

Suggested Bets

Pair some of our suggested bets or all of them with some of your own predictions and build winning bet slip.

  1. Both Teams to Score – No: Getafe do not have a good goal scoring record this season and have only scored three times on the road. We do not tip them to score in this game. (69/100 with 1XBet).

  2. Las Palmas to Win At Least One Half – Yes: With Getafe’s six losses in nine away games, we predict La Palmas will at least win one half considering their opponent’s poor record on their travels. (81/100 with 1XBet).

  3. Total Goals – Under 2.5: We do not tip this game to have a lot of goals, let alone more than two. An under 2.5 total goals market is highly possible here. (49/100 with 1XBet).

Value Bets

We have similar value bets informed by in-depth analysis of the game, be sure to pair some of them in one bet slip when you place a bet.

  1. Highest Scoring Half – First Half: Both teams are not prolific in front of goal and our prediction is that, beyond the first half there won’t be a lot of goals if either team scores in the first. (47/20 with Sportsbet.io)

  2. Las Palmas Clean Sheet – Yes: We still tip Getafe not to score based on their overall goals tally and poor results away from home. Las Palmas will keep them at bay. (38/25 with Sportsbet.io)

  3. Win to Nil – Las Palmas: A win for the home team is possible with a clean sheet. This bet will go best with the above clean sheet tip for Las Palmas. (13/5 with Sportsbet.io)

Prediction: Las Palmas Win and Under 2.5

We predict the overall result to be a Las Palmas win with less than two goals scored in the encounter. Although the hosts spent some time away in the Segunda Liga, in their overall head-to-head encounters, three out of five did not produce more than two goals. The win will not come easy for the hosts, but if the coach plans well, the result is possible.
