Real Betis vs Alaves Preview

Estadio Benito Villamarin will play host to Alaves in a Saturday evening encounter between two teams who are short of goals whenever they meet. The last three games between Real Betis and Alaves have only served two goals, and that was in a 1-1 draw and coming into this one, both teams will be looking to improve, having not scored in their respective losses.

Betis suffered a shock defeat to Real Valladolid who held on to a 58th minute goal from Kike Perez to steal three points. The hosts could have done better looking at the missed chances in the fourteen goal attempts they had. Alaves, on the other hand, owe their loss to a lapse in concentration, losing the game to Girona, through an additional time strike from Solis Romero in 90+1 minutes.

Real Betis Current Form – LDWDL

In position ten at the time of writing, Real Betis are not doing well to string a positive run of results, with only five points gained in five games. Their only win in that run was against Villarreal in an away game. They won 2-1 in that encounter and have scored five goals during this period, with the best performance being their 2-2 draw with Barcelona, considering the magnitude of the opponent.

Key Players to Watch

  • Sergi Altimira: Despite not being able to help his team avoid defeat the last time out, Sergi Altimira received the best ratings for Betis. The Spanish midfielder has featured sixteen times in La Liga this season and chipped in with one assist.
  • Cedric Bakambu: The manager has shown faith in the Congolese forward and given him some minutes recently. He is yet to score with the limited game time he has had, but he remains a threat for opponents.
  • Abde Ezzalzouli: The Moroccan plays on the left of a 4-2-3-1 formation in attack, is pacey and can take on defenders with successful dribbles. He will pose a formidable threat to Alves’ defense.

Real Betis Team News

Manuel Pellegrini has a surmountable number of players out to injury. Chimy Avila, Marc Roca, Giovani Lo Celso, Pablo Fornals, William Carvalho, and Hector Bellerin are all out nursing various niggles.

Deportivo Alaves Current Form – LDDDL

A poor run sees Alaves drawn into the relegation scrap, just one point away from the drop zone on seventeen points. Eduardo Coudet has not been able to lead his men to a La Liga victory in six games, since their 1-0-win Mallorca at home. Their away form is not impressive as well, being one of the worst this season.

They have only managed a solitary win on the road and that was against Real Sociedad in the beginning stages of the season. Overall, they have six losses, two draws and one victory on the road.

Key Players to Watch

  • Nahuel Tenaglia: The Argentinian has been rock-solid in his right fullback position and has made it his own. His overlapping runs and cover for the more central defenders will make him one of the key players on the day for his team.
  • Antonio Blanco: In their defeat to Girona, Antonio Blanco did well and was one of the standout players for his team, bossing the midfield. We expect him to pick up where he left off in this encounter.
  • Jon Guridi: Despite playing as a makeshift forward in a 4-4-2 formation, John Guridi has done well, considering that his natural position is in midfield.

Alaves Team News

Goalkeeper Antonio Sivera and Luka Romero will be available for the encounter after recovering from minor knocks, while Santiago Mourino and Martin Carlos will not make it back on time.

Predicted Line-ups

  1. Real Betis: 4-2-3-1

Vieites, Sabaly, Llorente, Natan, Rodriguez, Altimira, Cardoso, Lo Celso, Isco, Ezzalzouli, Bakambu

  2. Deportivo Alaves: 4-4-2

Owono, Sanchez, Diarra, Abqar, Tenaglia, Martin, Blanco, Jordan, Vicente, Garcia, Guridi

Suggested Bets

With the low-scoring encounters between these teams considered, we went for low scoring markets for our suggested bets.

  1. Total Goals – Under 2.5: Based off historical data in their head-to-head encounters and their recent results, respectively, we do not think there will be more than two goals in this game. (7/10 with BC.Game).

  2. Both Teams to Score – No: Here too we used the historical record to conclude. The last two games between Real Betis and Alaves did not produce a both two teams to score result, and in four out five a similar outcome was observed. (3/4 with N1Bet)

  3. Both Halves Over 1.5 – No: Both teams are low-scoring and for that reason, we do not see both halves producing more than one goal, respectively. (9/100 with Betway)

Value Bets

We went for value bets with high odds for this game. Our second in particular is carefully considered because we believe Alaves do not have a designated scorer, and any player playing in an advanced position can score if the opportunity is taken

  1. Match Result – Draw: Despite the bookmakers’ odds, the possibility of this ending in the draw is high. Their last three games ended as such and with them losing their last encounters, neither will want to give much away in this game. (53/20 with Stake).

  2. Anytime Goal Scorer – Jon Guridi: Playing in a much-advanced position, we predict Jon Guridi as one of the players who can score on the day. Exceptionally good odds for this market, make careful consideration. (8/1 with Betandyou)

  3. Match Result and Total Goals – Real Betis and Under 2.5: Based off home advantage, Real Betis have a slight edge as the probable winners of this match. And therefore, our prediction is a Betis win and no more than two goals. (12/5 with Betway).

Prediction: Draw

Overall, we predict the game to be a draw, although results can go either way. We foresee Real Betis and Alaves being conservative in the match, not wanting to give away much, with the match resulting in a third consecutive stalemate. (283/100 with 888Starz)
