Real Valladolid vs Real Betis Preview

Manuel Pellegrini and his Betis team travel to Valladolid to face La Liga’s bottom-placed team in an encounter between two teams that have had mixed fortunes this season. The home team have not had an easy ride so far with 12 losses, three draws and three wins.

They also have the worst defensive record in Spain, with an average of 2.05 goals conceded per game. Their three wins came from teams slightly higher than them in La Liga and thus far they do not have a win against a team in the top 10, Betis will therefore be a mountainous task for them.

The Seville-based team have done relatively well this season with six wins, seven draws and five losses. They have been rather conservative in front of goal though and will be looking to improve their tally coming up against Valladolid.

  3. 02/05/21 Valladolid 1 Real Betis 1

Real Valladolid Current Form – LWLLL

Valladolid have lost four of their last five games and only won one during that run. As far as form dictates a team’s final position at the end of a football season, it seems like they will be headed for relegation. In that run, they let in 12 goals and only scored twice in a 1-0 victory to Valencia and a 2-1 loss away at Las Palmas.

We shouldn’t read much into their win against Valencia because they too are not doing well, seated one place above Valladolid, so it’s not that much of an indicator of a change in form.

Key Players to Watch

  • Anuar: The Moroccan got the solitary goal in his team’s 1-0 win over Valencia but failed to impress in their loss against Girona. Playing in a slightly different role far up the field in a 4-3-3 formation, his pace will be tricky for Betis’ defenders.
  • Abdulay Juma Bah: Juma Bah also had a decent game in their most recent victory. The team needed him to be solid at the back to hold on to their solitary goal scored in the 20th minute and although it was not the same in the subsequent game, his quality is not in doubt.
  • Stanko Juric: If the home team are to get a goal, Juric is the man who can make it happen playing just behind the front three in a creative role. A player to look out for.

Real Valladolid News

Coach Diego Cocca has a full squad complement barring Senegalese forward Mamadou Sylla who’s only expected to return on January 27th.

Real Betis Current Form – DWDLL

Unbeaten in their in their last three La Liga outings after two straight defeats, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have somewhat turned the tide after a poor run of results. With the Conference League also considered, Betis have won three on the trot before their draw against Vallecano.

Their prowess in front of goal has not been that prolific with only twenty-one goals scored in the season so far, the third lowest in the top ten teams behind Mallorca. Their last five games indicate a change in their fortunes, with seven goals scored overall.

Key Players to Watch

  • Isco: Creative midfielder Isco has yet to get enough game time under his belt this season, but out against Rayo Vallecano, he converted a penalty and was a top performer in the 66 minutes he was on the pitch. We can expect him to put in a top-class performance for Betis.
  • Victor Roque: The Brazilian has found a home in Seville and has settled down comfortably with four goals in fifteen La Liga appearances. We tip him to possibly find the back of the net away from home.
  • Marc Bartra: A solid reliable defender at the back and a threat aerially with two goals to his name this season, Bartra is another one of our picks for key players in this encounter.

Real Betis News

Victor Roque, currently on loan with Betis, has expressed his happiness with the Seville-based team after Tottenham approached his parent club, who are said to be open to accepting an amount close to the €30 million they paid for him.

Predicted Line-ups

  1. Real Valladolid: 4-3-3

Hein, Rosa, Juma Bah, Sanchez, Perez, Meseguer, Juric, Anuar, Moro, Marcos Andre, Sanchez

  2. Real Betis: 4-2-3-1

Vieites, Perraud, Llorente, Bartra, Sabaly, Cardoso, Altimira, Ezzalzouli, Lo Celso, Isco, Roque

Suggested Bets

Our suggested bets are our more conservative selections for football betting punters who want to go for something safer, have a look at your pick.

  1. Double Chance – Draw or Real Betis: The most logical bet would be to give the visiting team a safer bet with two possible outcomes just in case La Liga’s strugglers manage to force a draw. We doubt a win will be possible against a team they last beat in 2020. (6/25 with Stake)

  2. 1st Goal – Real Betis: With the worst defence in Spain of thirty-seven goals conceded and the poorest scoring record of 12 goals, we do not foresee Valladolid scoring first against a team that has scored seven goals in their last five away games. (13/20 with Stake)

  3. Both Halves Under 1.5 – No: Valladolid’s leaky defence indicates a half where more than one goal will be scored. This bet gives you a fighting chance with both halves considered, if you don’t get it right in the first half, the second is likely or both, depending on the scoring appetite of either team. (11/20 with Stake)

Value Bets

If you’re looking for higher odds with greater returns have a look at our selected value bet odds below.

  1. Half Time/Full Time + Total – Real Betis and Over 2.5 Goals: Against Girona and Atletico Madrid, Valladolid lost both halves, and the total goals post the match were both over 2.5. The market has a high chance of resulting. (33/10 with 1xBet)

  2. Match Result + First Half Total – Real Betis Win and Over 1.5 Goals: We tip Betis to win the match and more than one goal in the first half as was the case against Girona, Atletico Madrid and Las Palmas. The odds here are good, with the outcome more likely than not as well. Take great consideration of this market. (18/5 with 1xBet).

  3. Score Draw – Yes: As much as we tip Betis to beat their hosts, a score draw is also possible. Bet this one separately from your slip with a high stake to quadruple your return. (18/5 with 1xBet)

Prediction: Real Betis Win and Under 4.5 Goals

Our overall tip for this game is a win by Betis based on the current form and head-to-head record between the two La Liga teams. Over their last five games, Betis have won two, and none of those games had high-scoring results, therefore, an under 4.5 goals total, coupled with a win by the latter is a very possible market. (21/20 with Betway)
