Bournemouth vs Brentford Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Venue: Vitality Stadium Kickoff Time: 17:30 (UK Time) Brentford will travel to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday. Both of these two sides will know that a top half finish in the league would be a positive result for this season, but the hosts have put themselves in a fantastic position to earn even more. In recent encounters, they have often produced exciting engagements, and this shouldn’t be any different. Brentford will look to employ their energetic and advancing style, but the confidence with which Andoni Iraola’s side is playing currently could mean a difficult afternoon for the Bees.

Bournemouth Current Form – WLWLL

All of the talk about Bournemouth at the moment has been around Andoni Iraola and the incredible work he has done so far. Bournemouth have enjoyed a season where they have played with incredible confidence and a commitment to attacking football. As a result, they sit just off of a top five finish in the league.

The Cherries play forward quickly, their movement of the ball and ability to unlock as already been seen throughout this season. They have scored at a rate of just below two goals per game in the last five fixtures and so whilst their defensive record might not be impressive, they will be confident of securing the three points on offer here.

Key Players to Watch

  • Justin Kluivert: Kluivert continues to impress for Bournemouth. His contributions to their attacking outputs have seen him lead the team’s scoring statistics with 12 goals and adding five assists to his tally this season.
  • Dango Ouattara: Another attacking ace for the Cherries, Ouattara has been incredibly instrumental on the wing. His pace and dribbling ability is often on display for Bournemouth, and he has added his name to the scoresheet on more than a few occasions.
  • Tyler Adams: A midfielder who has been pivotal for Bournemouth. His ability to control the game’s pace and intensity has been noted a few times throughout this season and given the fact that he has added to this with a defensive component only further endears him to the Bournemouth faithful.

Bournemouth Team News

Macros Senesi continues to be sidelined with his thigh injury, Adam Smith and Julian Araujo are reportedly closer to rejoining Iraola’s side after their struggles with injury – but are a still a doubt for this clash. Ryan Christie will be a big miss in the midfield, but he is struggling with a groin injury currently. Illia Zabarnyi was shown a red card against Wolves and will serve out his suspension.

Brentford Current Form – LWWDL

Brentford will want to return to winning ways here, especially since they only have two wins from their last five games. The Bees play with a positive energy and look to always increase the pace of the game – but they will know they need to convert those performances into points.

Defensively, they have seemingly managed to find a really impressive rhythm. Conceding just three goals from their last five, it is the sort of platform they are possibly able to build on and regain their previously impressive form.

Key Players to Watch

  • Yoane Wissa: Wissa has been in incredible form recently. Adding 13 goals to his side’s tally, the Congolese forward has enjoyed a really good season in the Premier League. Often popping up at the right times for Brentford, they will be hoping for another big performance here.
  • Christian Norgaard: Norgaard has been in sensational form for Brentford. Playing through the middle of the pitch for the Bees, he has been a defensive brick wall. With a rate of 81 successful tackles this season alone, his ability to transition the game from defence into attack allows for the free-flowing nature of Brentford to have a defensive aspect embedded into their approach. He is certainly one to watch.
  • Bryan Mbeumo: The Cameroonian continues to be a standout performer for Brentford. Scoring 15 goals for the Bees, adding assists and an exciting outlet option to their attacking ability, he is a complete football player.

Brentford Team News

Brentford have had to navigate a few injuries already this season. Gustavo Nunes remains sidelined due to a back injury, both Josh Da Silva and Sepp van deb Burg have a knee injury and Rico Henry misses out due to his thigh injury.

Predicted Line-Up

  1. Bournemouth, 4-2-3-1: Arrizabalaga, Kerkez, Huijsen, Hill, Cook, Scott, Adams, Ouattara, Kluivert, Semenyo, Evanilson

  2. Brentford, 4-2-3-1: Flekken, Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter, Norgaard, Janelt, Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade, Wissa.
