Brighton vs West Ham Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Venue: Falmer Stadium Kickoff Time: 15:00 (UK Time) Brighton have enjoyed a relatively successful season, but they aren’t necessarily finishing it off strongly. They are in position to ensure they maintain a top half finish but given the fact that they have not managed a single win in their last five games, this won’t be straightforward. West Ham are all but safe, but for the purposes of academic possibilities – they need a few more Premier League points to ensure their survival this season.

Brighton Current Form – DLLDL

Brighton have seen a sort of fall from grace in recent weeks. They have begun to concede a few goals and have struggled to play with the swagger and confidence we have come to expect from them.

There was a point in the season where we were all speaking about the Seagulls breaking into the top five, but that has sort of gone up in smoke now. Nevertheless, they have enjoyed a positive season and given the quality in their squad, it would not come as a surprise to see them run through an opponent again.

Key Players to Watch

  • Kaoru Mitoma: He continues to be a standout performer for Brighton. His dribbling ability, coupled with his creativity and confidence make him a dangerous player for opposing teams to deal with. Through the Brighton left flank he has shown an incredible willingness to take defenders on directly which only adds to the impotence and confidence of the team.
  • Pervis Estupinan: Another player who has enjoyed a stellar season with Brighton. Defenders who are able to contribute offensively are becoming more and more sought after in the league, but Estupinan’s attacking mindset has seen him able to get into various dynamic positions and add immense value to the team.
  • Danny Welbeck: His experience, physical presence and goalscoring ability only bolsters this Brighton attack. Granted, he isn’t always a starter for Brighton, but in key moments, he has always managed to have a say this season. Given the injuries and suspensions at Brighton coming into this game, Welbeck could once again be called on.

Brighton Team News

Brighton come into this game having to negotiate the injuries of James Milner and Joel Veltman. They are struggling with a thigh injury and a slight knock respectively, but otherwise, they have a full team to choose from ahead of their encounter with West Ham.

West Ham Current Form – DLDLD

West Ham are not in any real danger of going down this season, but they won’t want to finish in 17th place. That is precisely where they find themselves at the moment, but in fairness to Graham Potter and the Hammers, they have played much better than that might suggest.

They will need to find a strong finish though; their fans are beginning to get a little edgy and the pressure around the club is steadily building. They will want a reason to feel optimistic and have something to look forward to next season.

Key Players to Watch

  • Lucas Paqueta: His creativity and flair add another dimension to the West Ham midfield. He plays a pivotal role in linking the attack and defence and he is often key for the Hammers when looking to unlock opposing defensive lines.
  • Tomas Soucek: A robust player in the Premier League, Soucek has enjoyed the physical battle as well as breaking down opponents passages of play – but his aerial dominance isn’t often something spoken about.
He is a real box-to-box player with a vision for both aspects of the game. Keep an eye on him here.
  • Jarrod Bowen: Jarrod Bowen is a real standout player for West Ham. Serving as club captain, he continues to be a player at the higher end of both the attacking and defending aspects of their game.
    |His ability to create chances and score crucial goals will always count among the key player for the Hammers.

West Ham Team News

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been sidelined due to a toe injury and Michail Antonio continues to recover from his broken leg. Otherwise, the Hammers have a full side to choose from here.

Predicted Line-Up

  1. Brighton: 4-2-3-1

Verbruggen, Estupinan, Dunk, Van Hecke, Hinshelwood, Baleba, Wieffer, O’Riley, Mitoma, Minteh, Welbeck.

  2. West Ham: 4-2-3-1

Areola, Coufal, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson, Soler, Ward-Prowse, Bowen, Kudus, Paqueta, Fullkrug.

Suggested Bets

For bettors wanting to place a few wagers on this encounter, these are our suggested bets.

  1. Brighton Win: The quality they have in their attacking threat is undeniable and we think they come away with all three points here. 13/20 (1.65) with BetWinner

  2. Over 2.5 Goals:  These two teams have been involved in high-scoring affairs and given the attacking threats on the field, we think backing Over 2.5 Goals is a great betting angle to entertain.7/10 (1.7) with Stake

  3. Both Teams to Score: Another betting suggestion – along the lines of goals scored – is backing these two teams to both score. 7/10 (1.7) with Stake.

Value Bets

With competitive markets available across leading online betting sites, these selections offer strong value ahead of this Premier League clash.

  1. 1st Team to Score (West Ham): West Ham often start games aggressively, and when you include the fact that they have players like Jarrod Bowen up front, we back them to open the scoring. 29/10 (3.9) with Betway

  2. Pervis Estupinan (Anytime Goalscorer): He has been directly involved in many of Brighton’s attacking threats and while he often flies under the radar – he is amongst the leaders for shots registered on target. 28/10 (3.8) with 1xBet

  3. Brighton + Both Teams to Score: Combine these two betting angles for maximum value here. 23/10 (3.3) with Pinnacle

Prediction: Brighton to Win

Brighton have been their own worst enemies at times this season. They struggle to find a consistent rhythm and have stuttered and stammered in recent weeks, but they have quality players in their ranks and should have enough to come away with maximum points here.
