Ipswich Town welcome a Tottenham Hotspur team to Portman Road and the home team will have good memories of the reverse fixture with the visitors. The Tractor Boys claimed their first Premier League win of the season against Spurs back in November, beating Ange Postecoglou’s men 2-1 with goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap, after Rodrigo Betancur pulled one back late on.

Since then, Kieran McKenna’s chargers have not looked back. They may languish in 19th place, but crucially, have kept pace with the teams above them and are just a victory away from climbing out of the relegation zone.

Big Ange’s team, on the other hand, have had a season to forget. Injuries to key players like their first-string centre backs in Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, along with starting goal keeper Guglielmo Vicario has seen them struggle. The visitors are in 14th place on 27 points.

Ipswich Current Form – DLLLL

The level in the Premier League is extremely high, but somehow Ipswich manage to churn out performance’s week-in-week-out. Their previous five fixtures is testament to that, four losses and a draw is not a good run but they could have been on the right side of a few of those results.

Key Players to watch

  • Liam Delap: The young English striker has been the best performer for the Tractor Boys all campaign. A well-rounded striker, his profile checks all the boxes of a traditional number nine and has the stats to back it up. In his first season in the Premier League, the 22-year-old has nine goals and two assists.
  • Omari Hutchinson: The former Arsenal academy graduate has become a regular starter under McKenna this season. The 21-year-old has two goals and one assist in 22 appearances in the Premier League this season.
  • Kalvin Philips: The former Manchester star has reignited his career at Portman Road. The aggressive ball-winning defensive midfielder has featured 13 times for McKenna’s side in the Premier League this campaign.

Ipswich Team News

The home team will be without Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns who are dealing with knee injuries, while Chiedozie Ogbene is out with an Achilles issue. Sam Szmodics is still recovering from an ankle problem. Meanwhile, Christian Walton remains unavailable due to a groin injury.

Tottenham Hotspur Current Form – LLLLW

Postecoglou’s men come into the fixture with some of the worst form in the league. His team have been ravaged by injury, but he will get some of his star players back soon which might coincide with an upturn in form. A solitary win in their previous five is very poor, they did stop the rot with a 2-0 win in their last Premier League encounter against fellow Londoners, Brentford.

Key Players to watch

  • Archie Gray: The 18-year-old’s debut season in the Premier League has been exceptional. Thrown into the deep end because of the injuries, Gray has slotted in seamlessly with his ability to play in multiple positions. Big Ange has even given the youngster the Captain’s armband already, proving the faith he has in the Englishman.
  • Pedro Porro: The Spanish full-back has five assists and two goals this campaign. Porro is a key figure for Spurs and his educated right foot is a major asset for the London club down the right flank.
  • Dejan Kulusevski: The Swede has been one of Spurs’ main source of goals this season, contributing six goals and four assists. The 24-year-old is also very versatile and he can play across the front three.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

As mentioned earlier, Tottenham are dealing with multiple injury setbacks ahead of the clash. Cristian Romero and Brennan Johnson are struggling with muscle issues, while Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, and Timo Werner are nursing hamstring injuries. Guglielmo Vicario is out with an ankle problem, while James Maddison and Richarlison have calf issues.

In addition, Radu Dragusin and marquee signing Dominic Solanke are both dealing with knee injuries. Micky van de Ven has recently stepped up his rehab and maybe fit for the clash.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Muric, Tuanzebe, O’Shea, Greaves, Davis, Morsy, Cajuste, Hutchinson, Encisco, Broadhead, Delap

  2. Tottenham (4-3-3): Kinsky, Gray, Davies, Porro, Spence, Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur, Kulusevski, Son, Richarlison

Suggested Bets

The above Premier League betting insights will come in handy for these suggested bets.

  1. Fulltime Draw: The Tractor Boys are a difficult outfit to turnover, especially at home. Against a poor Spurs team, they could claim a valuable point at Portman Road. (47/20 with Stake)

  2. Under 2.5 Goals: With both teams struggling for form and in need of a victory, this could be a cagey, low-scoring affair. (147/100 with Betway)

Value Bets

Check out our value bets with these top-rates sports betting sites.

  1. Double Chance, Ipswich Town or Draw: McKenna’s team have already beaten Spurs away from home this season and they are a difficult side to face at Portman Road. The Double Chance on the home team to win or draw is value in this fixture. (77/100 with Stake)

  2. Ipswich Town to Win Either Half: The hosts have been impressive at their home stadium and a victory in either half is major value. (51/50 with Betway)

Prediction: Draw and Both Teams to Score

Both teams come into the encounter in poor form and are in desperate need of a victory. The home team have been extra impressive this season while the pressure is on Postecoglou and co to get a positive result. It looks likely that both teams cancel each other out here but both teams to score is a great call for your football betting strategy in this clash.
