Leicester City Current Form – LLLLL
Leicester City currently find themselves in 19th position on the Premier League table. Ruud van Nistelrooy is facing a baptism of fire with the Foxes, and many are now questioning why the Dutchman was awarded the job in the first place.
Defensively, they are at odds and ends, they haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet in what feels like forever and are paying the price for it with their current results. They come into this game off the back of five straight defeats and even with all of Manchester United’s problems, it is difficult to see how Leicester hurt them.
Key Players to Watch
- Patson Daka: Daka has quickly become a key striker for Leicester, providing pace and a clinical finish to the Foxes’ attacking abilities. In a team where there hasn’t been much to celebrate, his consistency is certainly something.
- Bilal El Khannouss: A creative midfielder, but we have mentioned him before. The only addition to his game is certainly his ability to play with such a robust and physical approach without hampering his inherent creative flair.
- Boubakary Soumare: Another strong and physical presence in the middle of the park for Leicester, he controls the tempo of the game far too often for Van Nistelrooy’s side and given his ability to break up opposing team’s advances up the field, he will be one to watch here.
Leicester City Team News
Leicester City are close to a full complement of players. Going into this game, the only doubts for the hosts are Abdul Fatawu with a knee injury and Harry Souttar who is struggling with his achilles.
Manchester United Current Form – LLDWD
Manchester United are seriously lacking innovation and creativity in their side at the moment. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has come out and commented that he thought Ruben Amorim was doing an excellent job given the circumstances, but the United owner seemingly failed to acknowledge that he was largely responsible for those very ‘circumstances’.
United seem to raise their game against the so-called better teams, but when they face a side who aren’t going to dominate the ball or the tempo, they struggle. They certainly have the players to beat Leicester, but on the road, they will need to still pitch up for the game.
Key Players to Watch
- Bruno Fernandes: Where would United be without Bruno Fernandes? Well, it’s a question Paul Scholes and Roy Keane might not enjoy acknowledging – but this United side owe a great deal to their club captain this season.
- Leny Yoro: He is a seriously promising young centre-back. You might forget that he has only a handful of appearances for United and Lille combined, but his quality is undeniable. He could be a superstar at Old Trafford.
- Toby Collyer: A rising young talent in midfield, Collyer has shown incredible promise and ability in his few appearances for Ruben Amorim. Flying the proverbial flag for academy prospects at United – as is suggested by their proud history – he is another to keep your eye on here.
Manchester United Team News
United still have a whole host of players sidelined due to injury. Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are all struggling with various muscle strains and as a result are sidelined for this encounter.
Altay Bayindir and Manuel Ugarte are still a doubt with a knock, Amad Diallo is still struggling with his ankle injury and Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are set to miss this clash as well.
Predicted Line-Up
Leicester, 3-4-3: Hermansen, Thomas, Coady, Faes, Kristiansen, Soumare, Ndidi, Justin, El Khannous, Vardy, Daka.
Manchester United, 3-4-2-1: Onana, De Ligt, Lindelof, Yoro, Mazraoui, Fernandes, Casemiro, Dalot, Garnacho, Eriksen, Zirkzee.
