Liverpool Current Form – WWWDW
Caoimhin Kelleher has come under a bit of pressure – largely due to that mistake against Newcastle. Now, whilst the media has suggested that the mistake is the reason for Liverpool dropping points, he has been brilliant for Liverpool since his opportunity.
Liverpool have been brilliant though; their season could not have gotten off to a better start and Arne Slot has now seen his side find pole position for the remainder of the league.
They face a Fulham side who enjoy playing expansive, aggressive and somewhat open football – but I think that suits Liverpool.
Their ability to punish space with pace and direct flowing football cannot be overstated enough. Yes, we have said this before, but their approach just looks more and more polished than ever before.
They will be a tough team for anyone to beat.
Key Players to Watch
- Mohamed Salah: Mohamed Salah is still – at the time of writing – without any concrete plans for the year ahead. Nevertheless, he has once again been brilliant and deserves a mention under our ‘players to watch’.
Again, we have said this before, but Salah just continues to play like a man who has something to prove. He is playing some of the best football we have seen and his influence on the success of this current Liverpool side cannot be overstated. - Virgil van Dijk: Van Dijk is seemingly one of the most underrated defenders this season, yes, we said ‘this season’ so keep your hat on! The defender seemingly goes about his business without too much attention going his way.
His sense of aggressive calmness adds to much of the defensive success at Liverpool and his leadership has been absolutely incredible this year. - Alisson Becker: Alisson has been sidelined due to injury, but his return has been absolutely seamless. He is a quality keeper, that is without question, and while Caoimhin Kelleher has done superbly, we suspect Alisson will soon return to his level best…and that could very well come on Saturday.
Liverpool Team News
Liverpool is expected to be without Diogo Jota (rib injury) Ibrahim Konate (thing injury), Federico Chiesa (muscle injury) and Kostas Tsimikas (ankle injury) for this encounter.
Fulham Current Form – WLDWD
As a point of departure, Fulham have been far better at Craven Cottage than anywhere else this season. That notwithstanding, Fulham have played with a tremendous confidence and have taken advantage of teams underestimating them.
They are 10th on the log – at the time of writing – and given the team they have this season; would you really be surprised to find them at the higher end of the log toward the business end of the season?
A strong defensive side, a hard working midfield and powerful attacking options will no doubt contribute to further success for the Cottagers.
Key Players to Watch
- Bernd Leno: Leno has been nothing short of crucial for Fulham. His numbers since joining Fulham have been incredible and this has continued into his performances this season. Yes, Fulham have a strong defensive setup but at times they have been totally reliant on the keeper.
- Antonee Robinson: He is without question one of the best left-backs in the league. Marco Silva has introduced a system which brings the best out of Robinson, his attacking contributions are often forgotten but coupled with his defensive prowess he has been brilliant for Fulham.
- Raul Jimenez: Since joining Fulham from Wolves, Jimenez has settled in beautifully. His intelligence off the ball, positioning and work rate in and around the box is incredibly dangerous for opposing defences.
He continues to lead the line for Fulham and could be crucial against Liverpool.
Fulham Team News
Fulham are without Harrison Reed (Knee injury), Joachim Anderson (calf injury), Reiss Nelson (thigh injury) and Tom Cairney (suspension).
Predicted Line-Up
Liverpool: 4-2-3-1
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenbach, Jones, Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Nunez.
Fulham: 4-2-3-1
Leno, Robinson, Bassey, Diop, Tete, Berge, Lukic, Traore, Smith-Rowe, Iwobi, Jiminez.
Suggested Bets
For the Premier League betting lovers amongst us, these are some of the best bets worth considering ahead of this encounter at the weekend,
Liverpool to Win: Liverpool are expected to come away from this encounter with the win. They have a superior quality all over the pitch and given the form they are currently enjoying it is difficult to see past the home win. 1/3 (1.33) with Betway and BetWinner
Both Teams to Score: You have two teams who each boast an incredible attacking prowess, neither side hold back in front of goal and given the quality in each box, both teams scoring seems like a play 4/5 (1.8) with BetWinner and Betway
Both Teams to Score + Over 2.5: Given the above predictions, for those punters who are brave enough to combine the goal-scoring expectation backing both teams scoring and Over 2.5 Goals seems like a shrewd bet here. 9/10 (1.9) with Betway and BetWinner
Value Bets
Mohamed Salah – Anytime Goalscorer: The Egyptian superstar is in incredible form. Given his influence on the attacking threats of Liverpool, their set pieces and penalties are also under his auspices! 8/5 (2.6) with Betway and BetWinner
Liverpool to Win Both Halves: Liverpool to win both halves offers incredible value, their attacking threats coupled with an electric Anfield atmosphere make a compelling case for us. 7/4 (2.75) with Betway and BetWinner
Correct Score 3-1: As a bit of a pot-shot bet for the fixture, we think this one ends as 3-1 to the hosts. Get on at 10/1 (11.0) with Betway and BetWinner
Prediction: Liverpool Win + Over 2.5 Goals
Liverpool wins this, they have the quality, confidence and current form to justify coming away with all three points and given that we expect an open game, adding Over 2.5 Goals to the ticket just offers better value. Back the Reds at 6/10 (1.6) with your favourite bookmaker now!
