The champions host Wolves on Friday night as two sides who have found an upturn in form clash. The hosts have not been their usual selves by not challenging for the Premier League title, while the visitors have managed to steady the ship under new coach Vitor Pereira at a crucial time to all but save their Premier League status for next season.

Manchester City Current Form - DWDWW

After a horrendous start to the season by Pep Guardiola’s usual high standards, the Spaniard has turned the tide. His City outfit is now charging for a top-four place and is unbeaten over their previous five games, drawing twice and winning the other three in that time.

Key Players to watch

  • Erling Haaland: Haaland is having a poor season by his standards, and he is still on 21 league goals in 28 Premier League matches. The Norwegian is a key cog in the City attack.
  • Josko Gvardiol: The Croat is one of the best left-backs in the league and is very technically gifted for a defender. Gvardiol has five goals to his name from 32 Premier League appearances this season.
  • Nico Gonzalez: The former Barcelona midfielder has slotted in like a glove at the Etihad. He rarely gives the ball away and is a reliable focal point for the City midfield.

Manchester City Team News

Rodri is currently sidelined with a knee injury. Ederson has a groin injury, John Stones has a thigh problem, while Nathan Ake is out with a foot injury, adding to their defensive woes. Additionally, Haaland has an ankle issue but should be fit for the visit of Wolves.

Wolves Current Form – WWWWW

Pereira has done an excellent job since arriving late last year. This Wolves side looked certain for the drop, but the Portuguese tactician has got them playing great football. They are the most in-form team in the division, winning all five of their previous five games and look to have all but preserved their Premier League status.

Key Players to watch

  • Matheus Cunha: The Brazilian has been their best player this season. He has had some discipline issues, but even so, the 25-year-old has 18 goal contributions for his side.
  • Jorgen Strand Larsen: The Norwegian has hit the ground running in his first Premier League season. The tall, lanky striker has 14 goal contributions in his 31 league appearances for Wolves.
  • Rayan Ait-Nouri: Rayan Ait-Nouri is an exciting fullback and can play in a back five or in a flat back four. The Algerian is an intelligent player and has ten goal contributions for his Wolves side in the Premier League this season.

Wolves Team News

The Wolves’ side has been suffering with knee injuries to key players. Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic, Yerson Mosquera, and Leon Chiwome are all out due to knee issues. Additionally, Pedro Lima, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Hwang-Hee Chan, Sam Johnstone, and Jose Sa all have minor knocks.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson, Nunes, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, Gonzalez, Savio, Silva, Foden, Doku, Haaland

  2. Wolverhampton Wanderers: 3-4-2-1: Sa, Doherty, Dawson, Bueno, Semedo, Andre, Gomes, Ait-Nouri, Cunha, Guedes, Larsen

Suggested Bets

Below in our suggested bets are some of the most reputable bookmakers to place your Premier League bets with.

  1. Both Teams to Score: There is firepower in both these squads, and the reverse fixture saw both teams find the net as well. (83/100 with Stake

  2. Under 2.5 Goals: These are two of the most in-form teams in the league, and it could be a cagey affair on Friday night. (27/50 with Betway)

Value Bets

These football bets offer good value and could lead to decent returns based on current form and odds.

  1. Match Winner and Both Teams to Score (Man City and Yes): The Citizens have been pressing on for a Champions League place, back them to win and both teams to score as Wolves are also coming into the tie in great form.  (8/5 with Betway)

  2. Anytime Goal Scorer (Erling Haaland): Back the Norwegian to add to his tally of 21 Premier League goals against Wolves. (Forecast odds: 7/2)

Prediction: Manchester City to Win

This is a really tough one to call, especially with the form both these sides are showing of late. With Champions League football on the line for the hosts, I think they edge it here, but expect a fight from the visitors, who have been excellent lately in the Premier League. For those considering a wager on this intriguing clash, exploring a welcome bonus could add extra value to your bet.
