United host Arsenal in what is the two teams' third meeting this campaign. The home side were breezed past at the Emirates in the reverse fixture, losing two-nil without offering much of a fight earlier in the season. However, The Red Devils made amends just weeks later by knocking the Gunners out in the third round of the FA Cup on their own patch.

It has been a tale of very different seasons for both clubs. Mikel Arteta’s side have put up a valiant fight in the title race but injuries have cost the London side and they have lost crucial ground to Liverpool. For United, it has been atrocious by their usual standards. The team from Manchester are in 14th place in the Premier League after a season to forget to date.

Manchester United Current Form – WLLDW

The Red Devils' inconsistent form over their previous five games has been the tale of their season to date. They are a shadow of the team that used to dominate the Premier League. Just two victories sandwiched between two losses and a draw doesn’t make good reading for United fans.

Key Players to watch

  • Bruno Fernandes: The Portuguese midfielder has been tasked with a deeper role this season under new coach Ruben Amorim and has been given extra responsibility in the middle of the park to take more touches and facilitate the build-up. Still, the 30-year-old has 13 goal contributions this season.
  • Alejandro Garnacho: The Argentinian winger is an exciting player when he gets on his bike and is a major threat on the counter for Amorim’s team.
  • Harry Maguire: Maguire has rediscovered the form that made United break the bank for him a few years ago. Playing in a poor United outfit has drawn some criticism of the Englishman, but he has shrugged it off and looks like one of their best players currently.

Manchester United Team News

Amorim’s team have been hit with a bit of an injury crisis at the moment. Mason Mount and Jonny Evans have muscle injuries. Luke Shaw, Tom Heaton, Altay Bayindir, Kobbie Mainoo, and Toby Collyer are all dealing with knocks. In addition, Lisandro Martinez has a knee injury and Amad is recovering from an ankle sprain.

Arteta’s side have lost and drawn once a piece while winning the other three games over their last five matches in the Premier League. It is form that has seen the London club lose momentum in the title race and has given Liverpool a huge advantage as we head into the final stages of the league campaign.

Key Players to watch

  • Jurrien Timber: After returning from an ACL injury at the end of last season, Timber has shown excellent form and availability. The Dutchman can play at right-back, left-back and even centre-back, a testament to his football intelligence.
  • David Raya: The Spanish shot-stopper has quickly become one of the best goalkeepers in the league at Arsenal. Raya dominates his box with his decisive claiming ability and is one of the best in the world with the ball at his feet.
  • Ethan Nwaneri: In a season ravished by injuries, Arsenal have been blessed with the emergence of -Hale End graduate, Ethan Nwaneri. The 17-year-old looks like an exciting prospect and can play in multiple positions in attack for Arteta’s side.

Arsenal Team News

The Arsenal attack is seriously depleted. Star boy Bukayo Saka has been missing since December with a hamstring injury. Gabriel Martinelli also suffered a hamstring issue and will miss the trip to Old Trafford.  Kai Havertz is out for the season with a similar issue. In addition, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are long-term absentees with knee injuries.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Manchester United (3-4-3): Onana, Mazroui, De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro, Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Zirkzee, Eriksen, Hojlund

  2. Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard
