Manchester City FC v Manchester United FC - Premier League

It has been a tale of very different seasons for both these clubs, but one thing is for sure, they have underperformed by their usual standards. The home side more, that’s for sure. United come into the clash languishing in the bottom half of the table and have failed to put together successive wins in the Premier League all season.

The visitors, on the other hand, are outside the top four and have steadied the ship after a horrendous start to the campaign.

Pre-Game Odds and Win Probability

  1. Home: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%

  2. Draw: 5/2 (3.50) – 28.6%

  3. Away: 11/10 (2.10) – 47.6%

  4. Odds courtesy of Betway subject to change.

Head-to-Head Record

  1. 15/12/24 – Man City 1-2 Man Utd

  2. 03/03/24 – Man City 3-1 Man Utd

  3. 29/10/23 – Man Utd 0-3 Man City

  4. 14/01/23 – Man Utd 2-1 Man City

  5. 02/10/22 – Man City 6-3 Man Utd

  6. The visitors have dominated recent meetings but both teams have scored in four of the past five games, something to consider for your football betting strategies!

Manchester United Current Form – DWDWL

The Red Devils’ inconsistent form over their previous five games has been the tale of their season overall. They have failed to put together a run of positive results, and the two wins, which are sandwiched by two draws and a loss, are a testament to the poor season they are enduring.

Key Players to watch

Bruno Fernandes
The Portuguese midfielder has been tasked with a deeper role this season under new coach, Ruben Amorim, but that has not reduced his output. Fernandes has eight goals and nine assists in his 29 Premier League games this season.

Alejandro Garnacho
The Argentinian winger is an exciting player when he gets on his bike and is a major threat on the counter for Amorim’s team. Garnacho has five goal contributions this season.

Harry Maguire
Maguire has rediscovered the form he showed before his move from Hull City. He is now a reliable option for Amorim to call upon at the back.

Manchester United Team News

Jonny Evans has a muscle issue. Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are both dealing with knocks. In addition, Lisandro Martinez has a knee injury, and Amad is recovering from an ankle sprain. Meanwhile, the new signing from Arsenal, Ayden Heaven, has a leg problem.

Manchester City Current Form – WLWLD

The champions have suffered without their star man, Rodri. The inconsistency shows in their previous five games. They have just two wins, a draw, and two defeats in that period, which has left them just outside the Champions League places.

Key Players to watch

Omar Marmoush
The Egyptian has taken the Premier League by storm. Since signing in January, the 26-year-old has registered four goals in his seven Premier League appearances.

Erling Haaland
City might be having a poor season, but Haaland has been his usual self in front of goal. The Norwegian has 21 Premier League goals to his name this season.

 Josko Gvardiol
The Croat is one of the best left-back’s in the league and is very technically gifted for a defender. Gvardiol has five goals to his name from 28 Premier League appearances this season.

Manchester City Team News

Rodri is currently sidelined with a knee injury. Oscar Bobb has a knock. Manuel Akanji is dealing with an abductor injury. John Stones has a thigh problem, while Nathan Ake is out with a foot injury. Haaland has an ankle knock but should be fit for the trip to Old Trafford.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Manchester United (3-4-3): Onana, Mazroui, De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro, Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Zirkzee, Eriksen, Hojlund

  2. Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson, Nunes, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, Gonzalez, Marmoush, Silva, Foden, Doku, Haaland

Suggested Bets

For those considering where to place their bets, we've highlighted some of the most reliable bookmakers and suggested bets below:

  1. Double Chance (Draw or City): It is difficult to see United winning, even at Old Trafford. Back City to get something from the fixture. (17/50 with Betway)

  2. Both Teams to Score (Yes): This fixture has produced goals in recent encounters so expect both teams to score on Sunday. (27/50 with Stake

Value Bets

If you have a keen interest to bet on football, here are some value bets for you.

  1. Over 3.5 Goals: United have been leaking goals of late, and with the talent on show at Old Trafford, there should be goals. (73/50 with Betway)

  2. Draw and Both Teams to Score (Draw/Manchester City and Yes): There are always goals when these two teams meet, and considering the poor seasons they are having, expect them to cancel each other out at Old Trafford. (107/100 with Betway)

Prediction: Draw and Both Teams to Score

It is difficult to separate these two sides, but one thing is for sure, there will be goals. As mentioned earlier, this fixture has seen both teams find the back of the net in four of the previous five occasions. Back the draw and both teams to score on Sunday.
