Tottenham Hotspur Current Form - WLWDL

Tottenham have swung between extremely brilliant and extremely poor during the 2024/25 Premier League season. In their last five league games, they have beaten Aston Villa, lost to Ipswich Town, demolished defending champions Manchester City 4-0, then drawn to Fulham and lost to Bournemouth.

Ange Postecoglou’s men play attractive football and have shown they are capable of taking the game to anyone on their day. What they have yet to show is that they can match the grit and consistency of Liverpool.

There have been some major positives this season, with one being the form of 23-year-old winger Brennan Johnson. However, Spurs risk another season ending with the same disappointment unless they can gain some consistency.

Key Players to Watch

  • Brennan Johnson: The winger has already hit double figures for the season with 10 goals in all competitions. He has six in 14 Premier League games at the time of writing in addition to three in the Europa League and one in the EFL Cup.
  • Dominic Solanke: Spurs have invested heavily in former Chelsea and Liverpool striker Solanke. He has taken time to fully find his feet but shown flashes of his ability.
  • Son Heung-min: Son is always one of the key players in any Spurs side. His leadership has been vital in recent years in equal measure to his skill on the ball.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Dominic Solanke has returned to full health for Spurs and is back in the starting lineup. Son Heung-min is still recovering from his injury. Micky van de Ven has been out for six weeks with a hamstring injury at the time of writing but his chances of being ready for this game appear strong. Guglielmo Vicario is out with a long-term knee injury, so Spurs have to use another option in goal. Elsewhere, Rodrigo Bentancur is serving a suspension for allegedly racist comments made about South Koreans and is out of action.

Liverpool Current Form - WWWWD

Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle United was a minor blip but their overall form has been incredible this season. Arne Slot had a tough task when he took over as head coach from Jürgen Klopp, but he has brought in new ideas revolving around defensive discipline. The proof is in the pudding and Liverpool sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds had recent notable wins over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League – both by 2-0 scorelines.

In the Premier League, they have dropped only seven points all season from 14 games and have a significantly better defensive record than their rivals at the top of the table with only 11 goals conceded.

Key Players to Watch

  • Mohamed Salah: Speculation has been rife over whether or not this is Salah’s last season with Liverpool. He has dealt with it superbly and has been in red-hot form.
  • Virgil van Dijk: Arguably the most important player in the side, van Dijk has shown superb leadership during a tricky situation following the departure of Jürgen Klopp.
  • Curtis Jones: Aged 20, Jones scored in the draw with Newcastle and appears set to become a star player for the Reds if all goes well.

Salah is eighth on the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring list with 170 goals.

Liverpool Team News

New Liverpool signing Federico Chiesa has faced a long road to reach peak fitness, which he is still in the process of attempting. Alisson Becker has been out injured lately and replaced by Caoimhin Kelleher. The Brazil goalkeeper, too, has an unclear return date. Right-back Conor Bradley is another injury doubt, as is centre-back Ibrahima Konaté.

Predicted lineups

  1. Tottenham (4-3-3): Forster; Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Kulusevski, Solanke, Son

  2. Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jones, Gakpo; Nunez

Suggested Bets

  1. Both Teams to Score: With the quality in attack that both sides possess, we could see goals at both ends of the pitch. (7/10 forecast odds)

  2. Over 2.5 Goals: Given the attacking talent on display, we could see an open game with a lot of goals scored. (9/10 forecast odds)

  3. Liverpool to score first: With the onus usually on the home side to attack, Spurs could offer great value to open the scoring. (14/10 forecast odds)

Value Bets

  1. Mohamed Salah – Anytime Goalscorer: Mohamed Salah is the league’s top scorer, so backing the Egyptian to score anytime in the match looks a solid bet. (3/1 forecast odds)

  2. Mohamed Salah – First Goalscorer: For the more adventurous bettor, backing Liverpool’s talisman to open the scoring is also a good option and offers even more value. (68/10 forecast odds)

  3. Brennan Johnson – Anytime Goalscorer: Brennan Johnson is Spurs’ leading goalscorer this term. Backing him to score anytime in the match could be worthwhile. (4/1 forecast odds)

Prediction: Draw and Both Teams to Score

Predicting Spurs games recently has been particularly difficult. However, what seems clear is that this fixture has plenty of potential to throw up goals from both sides; hence why BTTS is backed.

Tottenham have home advantage and will have some of their best players fully fit for this. Therefore, despite Liverpool’s form, Spurs can sneak a point. Liverpool showed in their draw with Newcastle that they are not infallible. Slot may be a victim of his own success as teams now know exactly what he brings to the table and they have time to study it.
