Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham hosts Claudio Ranieri’s AS Roma at home on Thursday, November 28, in what will be the Premier League winning manager’s first Europa League game in charge of the struggling Serie A side, who currently sit at 12th in the table with just three wins from 12 games.

Spurs also sit at mid-table in a less than impressive start to their season, but they are the Premiership top scorers, at the time of writing, with 23 goals, so they are still a clear and present threat, despite their run of results.

Over Spurs and Roma’s previous four meetings, they are tied at 2-2, however, Tottenham have scored nine goals to Roma’s five in those games.

The North London giants are presently positioned 7th in the 36-team Europa League, which is 13 places above Roma.

Tottenham Hotspur: Current Form – LLWWL

Tottenham Hotspur have lost their last two football matches at home and away. A 3-2 defeat away to Galatasaray in the Europa League on November 7 was followed up disastrously by a 2-1 loss at home to Ipswich in the Premier League three days later, on November 10.

Prior to that, Spurs reeled off two fantastic victories over Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on October 30, followed by a 4-1 trumping of Aston Villa at home on November 4.

This brace of home wins was preceded by a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League. 

This quintet of matches all took part within two weeks between October 30 to November 10.

Roma: Current Form – LDLWL

Similar to Tottenham, Roma has lost three from their last five fixtures. 

On October 27, they took a 5-1 thumping from Fiorentina, away from home in the Serie A, but they bounced back with a 1-0 win at home over Torino on Halloween.

On November 3, a narrow 3-2 defeat occurred when away to Hellas Verona, followed by another 3-2 loss in the Serie A to Bologna on November 10. 

Sandwiched between these league games was a draw in the Europa League with Union Saint-Gilloise on November 7.

Claudio Ranieri has been named AS Roma’s third coach of the season after taking over from the recently fired Ivan Juric at the crisis-hit club.

German defender Mats Hummels has been behind in his condition, after suffering from a fever, so will likely be placed on the bench again.

Spurs have had a disappointing start to the season, yet they are leading the Premier League in goals scored, and also rank third for chances created.
