West Brom striker Isaac Price is determined to win promotion to the Premier League with West Brom.
The former Everton hitman joined the Baggies on a four-and-a-half-year deal in the January transfer window, and having had a brief taste of top-flight football whilst at the Toffees, the highly-rated Northern Ireland international marksman understandably wants to test himself against the best on a regular basis.
Price made his professional debut aged 17 as a substitute for Everton against Arsenal back in 2021 and, the following season, also had a taste of Premier League football
“It’s a dream for any young kid to go and play in the Premier League,” said Price in an exclusive interview with SportsBoom.com.
“Playing in the Premier League is what everyone wants to do."
“It was a tough game to come on against Arsenal, playing against one of the best teams in the country, but it was a really good experience."
“I’m grateful I got the opportunity to do it.”
West Brom are sitting pretty in fifth position in the Championship and have been in the play-offs places for pretty much all of this season.
An impressive 2-0 home win over Oxford United on Saturday, their first win for three league matches, has given renewed confidence to the belief that the team can make the jump back to the big time.
“It’s been really good, I’ve settled really easily and I’m enjoying playing my football here,” revealed Price.
“I think as soon as I came in I knew I’d enjoy it, all the lads have been great with me."
“I’m just looking forward to carrying on doing what I have been and pushing."
“It was obviously a goal of mine coming here to get in [to the team] as soon as I can."
“But it’s about being able to perform to a high level so that you can keep yourself in the team."
“There’s been some god bits, but there’s also lots of things for me to learn and work on so that I can contribute a little bit more and help the team."
He added: “It’s a good time at the moment because we’re in and around the play-offs."
“We’ve got a lot of talented players in the squad, training is very competitive and we’ve got a good squad of players."
“The main goal for us is promotion – we want to get back in the Premier League."
“I think everyone knows that’s where the club belongs, especially given the size of the club and its history.”
BELGIUM BONUS
Price started at Everton when he was just seven years old and then left 12 years later when he joined Belgian Pro League side Standard Liege to get some much-needed first-team football under his belt.
The ambitious 21-year-old hasn’t looked back, having spent two seasons developing his craft at Liege and then returning to one of the Championship’s biggest clubs.
“It was a big move for me and one which has helped me massively."
“For any young players it’s about going to play first team football – and the Belgian League is a really good league, the standard was very high."
“They’ve got some very talented players and I really think that helped me develop over there."
“I think it also helped me mature a little bit as well, I’m really grateful for that opportunity. It’s helped me develop and come back to England a better player.”
