Jordan Clark hopes Luton Town “learn from our mistakes” as they look to fire their way back to the Premier League.

Premier League Experience

The ambitious midfielder relished the chance to test himself against top stars including Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice last season in his maiden campaign in the topflight.

But despite their best efforts, the Hatters were relegated back to the Championship having finished six points adrift of safety.

Determined to Bounce Back

Clark, who famously won promotion to the Premier League with the club the previous season, vowed: “We’ll be doing everything we can to get back there!”

“We’ve had a taste of it, we want to get back there if we can,” he told SportsBoom.com.

“We know it’s going to be really tough; the Championship is relentless.”

“Maybe we gave some teams too much respect in the league, but we put up a good fight in a lot of games and gave a really good account of ourselves.”

It’s going to be a long old slog, but we’ve got to learn from our mistakes last season and learn from the experience.

Preparing for a Tougher Championship Season

“I think the Championship is going to be harder this season that when it was when we got promoted,” admitted Clark.

“You just need look at the teams in the division now, but we feel as though we’re a better team now.”

“We need to show that bit of arrogance this season and confidence.”

“But we’ve got to prove it, week-in, week-out so that we’re in a good spot come Christmas time.”

Building a Stronger Squad

The Hatters have signed five new players ahead of the new season with a string of players having left Kenilworth Road this summer.

Right-back Reuell Walters, 21, has joined on a free transfer from Arsenal, while Brentford midfielder Shandon Baptiste, 26, has also joined for free.

Dundee United goalkeeper Jack Walton, 27, and Dagenham winger Dion Pereira, 26, have both signed on a season-long deals, while striker Aribim Pepple has arrived on loan from Inverness.

But experienced midfielder Ross Barkley has left the club for Aston Villa, as has left-back Ryan Giles who has been bought by Hull City.

“We’ve got to take it as a compliment if more teams are going to be gunning for us now, we’ve come from the Premier League,” said Clark.

“We want to be the best team in the league – and that’s what we’ll be working hard to achieve.”
