Tottenham Hotspur player Yves Bissouma expressed his excitement for the team’s clash against Liverpool in an exclusive interview with SportsBoom, organised by Showmax Premier League.

Bissouma Excited For Liverpool Clash

After two sorrowful losses, Tottenham Hotspur walked away with all three points on the road where they were seen demolishing Southampton 5-0. A few days later the Lilywhites were set to face a struggling Manchester United team in the Carabao Cup where we witnessed them proceed to the next round in a seven goal thriller at the London Stadium.

Spurs will be looking to use this impressive momentum to haul them through a win against the log leaders Liverpool this Sunday.

“I want to play that game and win as well because it’s important for us to win,” said Tottenham's Yves Bissouma to SportsBoom.com.

“I’m excited because it’s an important game. It’s a big game, you know? It’s always a pleasure to play a game like this. So yeah, I’m more excited. I’m just working hard and waiting.”

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has been dealing with a lot of pressure recently with their injury list growing larger by the day. However, his players have their beliefs in him.

“He’s like a dad,” said Bissouma

“One of the best coaches I have in my career. My coach always speaks with me and tries to make us understand whatever he wants us to do. He wants us to do everything perfectly. We have a lot of quality in the team. He’s here for his players. He’s speaking to the players every time. You can go to speak to him about anything. He’s like a dad. For me, as a coach he is amazing.”

“You can see the way we’re doing things. The last result was great but we are still learning. We are enjoying every session, every game, every moment we have. We have everything to make us special. He is a special person. Yes, a special culture as well but yes as a human, fantastic.”

“I’m enjoying every session with him of training. So, yeah, of course I’m gonna try hard, but not just me, it’s all of the players. We believe in what we’re doing, especially with Ange. He is always staying positive and he teaches us the same way to stay positive and believe in what we’re doing because when we do, we do it right, we always get what we want, you know. So yeah, for me, I love it.”

“I love it. I love this time, the way we play. The way we compete, the way we’re fighting and the way we’re training. That’s more important than anything because we are approaching everything we do in the game and yeah, my role in the team is to try to just make the team play… try to go receive the ball and make the team play.”

“I’m enjoying that as well because I know I can do it and when I know I can do it and he believes in me, I believe in me. I just have to do what I want, what they want me to do."

"Yeah, of course I’m enjoying it because it’s the way I want to play. We have the same way we see football so it's much easier to understand what he really wants and he understands me as well. We’re working like that. Trying to grow like that.”

Yves Bissouma On His Performance And The Mood In The Dressing Room

Despite being in tenth position, Spurs are just two points away from the top six. Over the years they have asserted themselves in the big six and carry themselves accordingly.

“I know I have to be more consistent now because I have the quality to do it. I’m still learning. I’m still believing in myself, in the way I’m playing football.  And you know, things can happen sometimes, but yeah, and that's why you have to always keep your head up and work hard because the only way to be the best is to work very hard and I want to be the best. I know I can do it. “

“So yeah, I’m enjoying it when I’m playing football. It’s always a pleasure for me to play. I’m just believing in myself and I’m not scared of nothing. I’m just happy to play with my style.”

“You can’t be perfect all the time, you know. Sometimes you can win, sometimes you can lose.  And yeah, especially when we lost some games that we normally don’t lose. But like I said, this is football, which is working hard, trying to change the situation. “

“We’re doing so well and that’s what we did against Southampton. Now we know the right things to do. We’ve got a good example from the last game that we’re gonna learn from and try to manage the rest of the games like that.”

“The mood is good. We are always together, speaking with each other, trying to understand each other and what we have to do because we have a lot of young players and a lot them come and ask questions about what they have to do in training.”

“We look like brothers. That’s really important to me as well because the team has to be close. The mood is good. Especially because we won against Southampton. It depends on the results. If we’re winning games, it’s open, everyone is confident and everyone is feeling good. I’m doing one of the best jobs in the world.”
