Liverpool legend Alan Kennedy has been left mesmerised by new manager Arne Slot’s dazzling start to life at Anfield.

Two-time European Cup winner Kennedy cemented his place in Liverpool folklore with his heroics during a decorated career for the Merseyside club.

Kennedy is confident the good times will shine once again following Dutchman Slot’s fantastic impact since his June arrival.

Slot has started in blistering fashion with Liverpool having won 15 and drawn one of his 17 games in charge thus far, and with just ONE defeat the former Feyenoord boss holds a remarkable 88.24 win percentage.

“I’ve liked the way he’s approached things, I like the way he speaks and he also doesn’t have any airs and graces,” Kennedy told SportsBoom.com.

“He just gets on with the job of what he’s good at. Whether you’d heard of him before he came to Liverpool or not, well you know who he is now!"

“I think the players are enjoying playing for him, which is a great thing."

“Even if you go back to the 1970s and 1980s, you’ve always got to have a manager who is in charge."

“I definitely feel as though he’s got something about him. I think a lot of the players probably think ‘well, I wouldn’t mind playing for him’.”

Top-class talent

Former defender Kennedy has no doubts that Slot’s arrival in Anfield will lead to many more top-class players joining the 46-year-old’s planned revolution.

“I think players will look at Liverpool and think ‘I’d love to come there’,” stressed Kennedy.

“Let’s just say if you had the choice of Real Madrid or Liverpool, well you’re hoping that what Arne Slot has done – and the previous manager [Jurgen Klopp] – they’d want to come to Liverpool."

“The fans just need to be patient with the team and let them keep doing what they’re doing, because they’ve been great this season. And that comes from the manager."

Klopp laid platform

Previous boss Klopp won the Premier League title, one Champions League crown, an FA Cup, two EFL Cups, the Community Shield, a UEFA Super Cup and a Fifa Club World Cup during a stellar career in charge.

Kennedy, who played 251 times for the club during a distinguished nine-year career at Anfield, hopes the current confidence and camaraderie in the squad can inspire Liverpool to find another level even after Klopp’s departure.

“There’s definitely a good confidence and a good bond there, without a doubt,” added Kennedy.

“I’ve watched the matches and afterwards I say to myself ‘that was great, it was controlled’. And you’re not asking questions about players."

“It looks like it’s 11 players who enjoying being out there whatever the formation is."

“You know, fans can be a little hard at times if things don’t go well, but the fans can see how well this team is playing."

“I think you’ve got to raise your level every season – and every player who has come in has raised his level to something higher."

“I often think that the game changes a lot, certainly in the Premier League. It changes every couple of years and you’ve got to keep raising your game."

“You’ve got to find that extra yard, you’ve got to find ways of beating the age syndrome, and the players are doing that, especially the senior players. They’re raising their games every season."

“I think the crowd are really appreciating how they’re performing at the moment.”
