Manchester City's interest in Henry Oware was thwarted two years ago due to many restrictions, despite outbidding Barcelona, Arsenal, and other top clubs.

He joined Troyes, a City Football Group affiliate, seeking regular playing time. However, Oware found opportunities limited; as a result, a change of environment became necessary to unlock his full potential.

Joining Belgian Challenger PRO side Lommel SK another possession of the City Football Group, where he has been playing regularly to fuel the Jupiler Pro League qualification ambition.

The Ghanaian also didn't shy away from naming Villa's centre half Tyrone Mings as his role model, citing him as a key inspiration.

The Need for Regular Minutes

Once frustrated by limited playing time, former Kumasi Barcelona Babies youth star Henry Oware has turned the page and finds new momentum at Lommel SK's Soeverein Stadion.

"More regular playing time is key for developing players like me," Henry Oware told SportsBoom.com.

"It's true, I struggled a little bit to get a chance at French side Troyes, though I worked hard and was patiently waiting for it."

For a young, talented player like Oware, many options abound. "When Lommel SK came, I saw it as a big opportunity to improve myself, get more playing time, and level up my confidence," he explained.

"Most importantly, I wanted to contribute to the team's success. I didn't really think twice about coming to Belgium. Lommel SK is a great club for young players, and I've really enjoyed my stay so far."

"The season has just started, and I'm hoping for more time to showcase my skills, be there for my colleagues and the club," Oware added with a smile. "Yes, it's been great so far, bro."

Steve Bould's trust in me has been immense. With his guidance, I'm gaining confidence game by game. Now, it's my turn to repay that trust with outstanding performances.

In Search of Jupiler Pro Qualification

Lommel SK is determined to reach Belgium's top-tier league, but consistency has been a challenge in recent seasons. However, the club's defensive anchor, Oware, is optimistic that they now possess the invincible form needed to achieve promotion.

"Qualifying for the first league is our top priority," Oware explained. "With promotion in our sights, the technical team is laying the groundwork. Now it's up to us players to deliver, fighting for the crest and performing at our best. I'm confident we can make it happen."

"I'm eager to help rewrite the script for this great club," he continued by saying "I believe my head coach, Steve Bould, shares this vision. My colleagues often speak about it, and I think that's the perfect mentality we need. The journey has begun – let's see where it takes us."

Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings’ Influence

For young footballers just starting out, one of the most common questions is: who inspired them? Who were the legendary players they idolized growing up, and whose footsteps they hope to follow?

For 20-year-old Henry Oware, Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings is his ultimate role model. While he also has immense admiration for fellow Ghanaian Mohammed Salisu and Dutch defender Micky van de Ven of Tottenham Hotspur.

"Growing up, I've always admired Tyrone Mings, a left-footed centre back like myself. His composure on the ball, precise clearances, exceptional distribution, and ability to intercept crucial passes truly impresses me.”

"I've always been drawn to Tyrone Mings' qualities, perhaps because I grew up watching Aston Villa matches. But regardless, he's an exceptional defender.”

"I've also been following Mohammed Salisu, Micky van de Ven, and Presnel Kimpembe of Paris Saint-Germain. Observing these talented defenders helps me learn and integrate new skills into my game. It's essential for building confidence and picking up valuable tips," Henry Oware emphasised.
