Football just like any other sport in the world is all about winning matches and trophies. Success in football is accounted for by the number of trophies won by any respective club, player or manager. 

Lionel Messi holds the record for the most trophies won by any footballer in history, with an incredible 44 trophies to his name. Egyptian club Al-Ahly hold the record for the most trophies won by a club in football history, with 128 trophies in their cabinet.

The Bundesliga Meishterschale was created in 1964, by renowned art professor Elisabeth Treskow. The trophy is awarded to the top team in any particular German top-flight season. 

FC Koln were the first team to lift the Bundesliga Meisterschale, back in 1964. Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are the current holders of the trophy, after going through the entire 2023-24 season undefeated in domestic competitions. Weighing 11 kg, the shield features a 71.98-carat tourmaline, silver, and gold and is valued at around $57,102. 

7. The Scudetto 

The Scudetto (small-shield), also known as the Serie A trophy is awarded to the top team in the Italian top-flight each season. The trophy was created by renowned artisan Ettore Calvelli in 1960. 

Juventus have lifted a record 36 Serie A titles. The Scudetto weighs 8 kg and has an estimated value of $66,000. 

6. AFCON - African Cup of Nations 

The African Cup of Nations has a very rich and long history spanning decades. The AFCON - trophy is one of the most prestigious awards in the African continent and is truly cherished by fans and footballers. 

Ivory Coast won the last edition of the tournament in 2024. While Egypt hold the record for the most AFCON titles, having won the title seven times. The African Cup of Nations trophy is valued at an estimated $150,000.

Lionel Messi holds the record for the most Ballon d’Or trophies in football history, with eight trophies to his name. Cristiano Ronaldo is second on the list with five Ballon d’Or titles to his name. Some of the best players in football history, Alfredo Di Stefano, Lev Yashin, Eusebio, George Best, Johan Cruyff, Franz Beckenbauer, Ruud Gullit and Zinedine Zidane have won the prestigious award. 

According to GOAL, the price of materials to make up the Ballon d'Or award is approximately €3,000. But, the inflated price can go up to as much as €500,000.

FA Cup is the oldest football competition in England and one of the oldest competitions in world football. Arsenal were the first team to lift the trophy and are also the team with the most FA Cup titles in history. 

The trophy is made of sterling silver and is valued at an estimated $1,180,000. Manchester United are the current holders of the trophy after defeating Manchester City in the 2023-24 final.

The Europa League trophy is regarded as the second tier of European continental club football. It is one of the heaviest trophies in football and sports history, weighing over 15 kilograms. It features a silver and yellow base and costs $4.5 million.

The Copa Libertadores is one of the most prestigious trophies around the globe. It is the premier club trophy in South America. It was introduced in 1960 and is made of sterling silver with silver-coated bronze, it is valued at $8.5 million.

The trophy weighs 6.1 kg and is made of 18-carat gold. It was created by Italian artist Silvio Gazzaniga in 1974 and the FIFA World Cup trophy is current estimated value is around $20 million. The current holders of the trophy are Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
