Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Man City, are excited to kick off the Summer 2025 Transfer Window early ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA. Premier League clubs are licking their lips at the chance to delve back into the transfer market earlier than expected, SportsBoom sources can reveal.
All of the game’s top-flight clubs have agreed a deal for the Summer 2025 Transfer Window to open early because of the first-ever 32-team FIFA Club World Cup later this year (15 June – 13 July).
It will take place in the USA in 2025, with 12 venues across the nation chosen to host matches.
Manchester City and Chelsea are both due to compete in the prestigious competition, which kicks off in 79 days, as 32 of the world’s best teams battle it out in the USA for a top prize believed to be worth close to $125m (£97m).
The window will open early, between Sunday 1 June and Tuesday 10 June, due to an exceptional registration period relating to the competition, before reopening on Monday 16 June and close on Monday 1 September.
CHANCE FOR A BARGAIN?
And that means that England’s top-flight clubs will be looking to get as much as business done as they can before many contracts are renewed, as well as deals tying down players for when they are released on free contracts.
The new window means it’s a great opportunity for Premier League clubs to save plenty of money on star players as they look to grab a bargain before the window quickly slams shut again just nine days later.
For City and Chelsea especially, FIFA’s stance means that both clubs can add to their squads and agree contract extensions with players before the tournament begins in the United States on 14 June.
City boss Pep Guardiola is hungry to rebuild his tired squad having slipped down the pecking order and seemingly surrendered their Premier League crown to Liverpool, while Chelsea are also expected to do plenty more business as they look to challenge for the title next season to please their financial backers.
