Former England star Eric Dier could be heading back to the Premier League, SportsBoom sources understand.

The 31-year-old has endured a frustrating spell with Bayern Munich despite the club set to claim an impressive 33rd Bundesliga title this season.

Fellow former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Harry Kane bagged a brilliant brace as Bayern moved a step closer winning the German title with a triumphant 4-0 away win over Heidenheim on Saturday.

And with just four league games left the club are eight points clear of second-placed Bayern Leverkusen and on the cusp of yet another memorable domestic success.

But Dier, capped 49 times by his country, has played a bit-part in the campaign with just 17 league appearances all season.

The versatile defender and midfielder played only 15 league games last season, a far cry from when he was a regular starter for Spurs in the Premier League.

His current deal is up in June this year and a string of clubs are monitoring the player’s situation, with his vast Premier League experience a key factor in acquiring his services.

DECADE OF SERVICE

Dier enjoyed a decade of playing in the Premier League for Spurs, but he mustered just four games in the 2023-24 season and ended his long association with the club that season.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou didn’t want Dier in his squad and in January last year he was loaned to Bayern on a six-month deal that also saw his Spurs contract run out in June 2024.

Bayern signed Dier on a one-year-deal, an option included in the original deal, but the player has struggled to cement a regular starting place this season, where as England skipper Kane has dazzled since his from England.

Dier was a Champions League runner-up in the 2018-2019 season when Spurs were beaten by Liverpool in the final at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

He also played for England at the 2016 European Championships and at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups for his country.
