Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis is gathering plenty of Premier League admirers, sources close to SportsBoom can reveal.
If the Tractor Boys are relegated from the Premier League, then a number of clubs are ready to pounce for his signature.
Davis signed a new long-term deal with the club in October last year, but if Kieran McKenna’s struggling side failed to avoid the ‘dreaded drop’, SportsBoom understands the talented left-back will have no shortage of suitors.
Ipswich are currently languishing in 18th position in the Premier League, third from bottom in the table and six points adrift of safety with just nine games to avoid safety.
And in Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, they still have to play three of the top sixes in what looks like a daunting run-in to try and retain their top-flight status.
Leif said he was “excited to continue the journey” with the club after penning a new deal until 2028, but the ambitious 24-year-old has no intention of dropping back to the Championship next season.
PRIME TARGET
That makes him a prime target for a move away from Portman Road as he looks to continue his Premier League journey.
Newcastle-born Leif joined the East Anglian club from Leeds United in July 2022 and has enjoyed back-to-back promotions with McKenna’s side.
First winning promotion with a League One runner-up spot in the 2022-23 season and then the following season securing a famous promotion to the Premier League.
The talented defender also won promotion to the Premier League while on loan with Bournemouth in the 2021-22 season and promotion with Leeds United when they won promotion to the top-flight in the 2019-20 season.
With four promotions on his already bulging CV, it’s little surprise the highly-rated youngster is attracting attention from plenty of enviable suitors.
This season he been a regular started for the Tractor Boys with 27 appearances under his belt and bagged his debut Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City back in early November last year.
