Exclusive: Callum Wilson Ready to Move On as Newcastle Snub New Deal for Veteran Striker
Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson is set to become a free agent this summer, with several Premier League and Championship clubs interested in signing him. The 33-year-old has had limited opportunities this season under boss Eddie Howe, making him a potential attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced striker.

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson is readying himself for a move away from St James’ Park.
The experienced 33-year-old hitman is out of contract this summer and a number of Premier League and Championship clubs have expressed an interest in trying to sign him, according to sources close to SportsBoom.
Having played just 11 times for the Magpies this season, SportsBoom also understands Wilson is unlikely to be offered a new deal to stay because of his age and boss Eddie Howe hungry to sign younger alternatives.
Wilson joined the Magpies on a £20million four-year deal in September 2020 and had an immediate impact in his first season on Tyneside with 12 goals in 26 Premier League games.
But the former England international centre-forward has fallen down the pecking order with Sweden international striker Alexander Isak now the club’s first-choice starter.
Isak has bagged an incredible 19 goals in 24 Premier League outings this season and is set to start against Liverpool in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
Wilson has started just two games this season, against Liverpool in the league and Birmingham in the FA Cup, having been substituted in both fixtures.
LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES
The former Bournemouth striker has become more of a fringe player under manager Howe, although he was rewarded with a contract extension to this summer after his 18 goals in the 2022-23 season, the second season in a row he had achieved that goal tally.
Frustratingly, regular performances have been hampered by a hamstring injury which saw him sidelined for two months.
Wilson has plenty of Premier League pedigree having enjoyed five seasons with the Cherries in the top-flight, as well as his five with Newcastle, a decade of playing in the top league.
He is currently enjoying life on a bumper financial deal at St James’ Park, but when he becomes a free agent this summer a deal to sign him becomes an attractive proposition.
