Exclusive: Patson Daka Set for Leicester Exit as Striker Eyes Fresh Start in England

Leicester City striker Patson Daka is set to leave the club this summer after a disappointing spell following his £23million move in 2021. With just one goal in 22 appearances and the club's relegation, Daka seeks a fresh start. Everton had interest in him, and Leicester will cash in to rebuild after Jamie Vardy's departure. Despite his struggles, Daka, 26, is eager to prove himself in England.

Patson Daka is free to leave Leicester City this summer, SportsBoom sources understand.

Things have not worked for the Zambian striker since he moved to the Foxes for £23million from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021.

His woes at the Foxes continued as the club’s Premier League relegation was confirmed last weekend.

Daka, who missed a big portion of the season after being sidelined due to ankle surgery, scored just one goal in 22 appearances as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side made an immediate return back to the Championship.

Everton were previously interested in signing the striker, who understandably wants a fresh start after a torrid time at Leicester.

His contract expires next summer, and chiefs at the club want to cash in ahead of their rebuild to try and regain their top-flight status at the first attempt.

A striker is their top priority after the news that club legend Jamie Vardy will end his storied 13-year stay with the Foxes at the end of the season.

FAILED TO FIRE

Daka signed with Red Bull Salzburg in 2017 and enjoyed four successful years at the club.

He came over to England hotly-tipped to make a huge impact after bagging the goals for fun in Austria.

Daka netted an impressive 54 goals in 82 appearances and helped the club win four straight Austrian Bundesliga titles and three successive Austrian Cups.

But he failed to his those heights during his time at Leicester, scoring just 17 goals in 107 games.

His career in England is now at a crossroads, although at 26 he still has age on his side.

It is understood Daka is eager to stay in England and feels he has a point to prove after his career has gone downhill.
