Scottish wonder kid James Wilson is attracting plenty of attention, north and south of the border.
And SportsBoom sources understand a number of Premier League clubs are now keeping tabs on the talented teenager.
Hotshot striker Wilson, 18, has dazzled for Hearts in the Scottish Premiership this season and cemented is place as a first-team starter.
But his shock selection for the Scotland senior squad, ahead of this week’s clash with Greece, has made more clubs stand up and take notice of his talents.
Wilson has been monitored by a number of English Championship clubs for some time, triggered last summer when he broken into the Hearts’ first team and showed glimpses of his true potential with a couple of impressive cameo performances.
But the young gun has developed at a fine rate over the past 12 months and is now a key player in manager Neil Critchley’s side.
Hearts climbed to sixth in the table at the weekend with victory over Ross County and are hoping to challenge the top clubs in Scotland moving forward.
METEORIC RISE
Wilson has played 25 times this season for Hearts and scored six goals as he continues his meteoric rise through the ranks.
His excellent displays and maturity beyond his young years was one of the big reasons Scotland boss Steve Clarke gave him his first senior call-up.
Wilson rejected offers to join Manchester United and Aston Villa to continue his development at Tynecastle.
But he could become the youngest Scot to play for his country if Clarke selects him to start in the Nations League play-off clash with Greece on Thursday.
Former Partick Thisle, Falkirk and Hamilton Academical full-back John Lambie holds the record as Scotland’s youngest player at 18 years and 63 days old when he made his debut against Ireland in 1887.
“It’s the dream of every kid in this country that plays football, to be called up for your national team and play for them,” said Wilson. “So hopefully I get a chance to do that.”
