A number of Premier League clubs want to bring Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao to England.
SportsBoom sources understand Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Bournemouth have all sent scouts to watch the talented winger this year.
The 24-year-old further put himself in the shop window as he impressed against Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker, who is currently on loan in Italy with AC Milan, during the Dutch club’s Champions League victory over the Italian giants.
It is understood Liverpool boss Arne Slot is a huge admirer of the Brazilian and would be interested in a reunion with the player at Anfield.
And with Mohamed Salah’s future unclear in Merseyside, Slot is keeping his options open regarding his summer transfer plan.
Feyenoord want a fee of over £40million for the forward, who has amassed 11 goals and 15 assists for Robin van Persie’s outfit this season.
INTEREST FROM ITALY
But Napoli are willing to swoop and beat the swathe of Premier League clubs vying for Paixao’s signature.
The 2022/23 Serie A champions are desperate to bolster their attacking options after losing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the winter transfer window.
And fellow Italian club Atalanta have also expressed an interest in the left-sided winger.
Paixao joined Coritiba’s youth set-up at the age of 14 and signed his first professional deal in January 2019.
After three years at the club he penned a five-year deal with Feyenoord.
His dazzling displays earned him a call-up to the Brazil U23s in 2023 and he was part of the side which won the 2022/23 Eredivisie and 2023/24 KNVB Cup under Slot before his departure for Liverpool.
