This game has previously been a high-scoring and entertaining affair, which is expected to replicate in this encounter. Therefore, NBA betting enthusiasts will be hoping to generate profitable returns from this game’s wager.

The Dallas Mavericks are currently one of the unluckiest teams in the NBA but key players have started to return to the lineup. Kyrie Irving’s season-ending injury seems to have flown away with their NBA title aspirations. After the trade deadline, their squad was built to immediately challenge for the NBA title but things have taken a turn for the worse and their short window of success paints a gloomy picture.

On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks have been average and are likely to be a play-in team, with the Detroit Pistons firmly grasping the last automatic playoff spot. The internal roster development has stagnated and changes will be necessary if they falter to an early playoff elimination. They are ranked seventh on the Eastern Conference standings with a 35-36 record attached to their name.

This meeting will be vital for the Mavericks as they will be motivated to prolong their three-game winning streak against the Hawks and keep pace with the Suns if they are to make the playoffs.

Dallas Mavericks: Current Form – WLLLL

  • Overall Record: 34-37
  • Home Record: 20-16
  • Away Record: 14-21

To state that the Dallas Mavericks haven’t lived up to the billing so far this season is an understatement. Much was expected from the team after making it to the NBA Finals last season, coupled with one of the best offseason roster shakeups. However, things have taken a whirlwind turn and the franchise is engulfed in turmoil.

On paper, the Mavericks boast one of the most impressive staring units capable of dominating on both ends of the floor but as things stand, they will not be able to take the court this season as a result of injuries.

The Mavericks are outside the play-in playoff spots and will be motivated to conclude their season positively in order to calm down an angry and agitated fanbase that had hoped that this season would be the start of a legacy.

Key Players to Watch

  • Klay Thompson: Klay Thompson has struggled in some games this season but as it stands, he is the Maverick’s best player among those available. Klay is still one of the best shooters in the NBA and he will be relied to carry the offensive burden, despite averaging 14.5 points per game.
  • Max Christie: Max Christie has settled in well in his new surroundings after being acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the Luka trade. Christie brings balance to the Mavericks backcourt with his elite defense and marksmanship from the 3-point line.
  • P.J. Washington: P.J. Washington will be called upon to carry some of the offensive workload due to the Mavericks’ star players suffering various injuries. Washington is a capable scorer and is averaging 14.8 points per game while demonstrating improved defense on the other end.

Dallas Mavericks Team News

Kyrie Irving’s season is over after suffering an ACL injury. Anthony Davis is expected to miss the game along with fellow centers, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II, who are out due to a Grade 3 right MCL sprain and a right ankle stress fracture respectively.

Caleb Martin is ruled out with a hip injury while Dante Exum has been diagnosed with a left hand fracture and will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Olivier-Maxence Prosper has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season after undergoing surgery to repair a right wrist injury.

Atlanta Hawks: Current Form – WWWLL

  • Overall Record: 35-36
  • Home Record: 19-17
  • Away Record: 16-19

The Atlanta Hawks have been good and bad in equal measure. They are capable of going toe-to-toe with any team in the NBA but their consistency has been wanting. The Hawks are ranked 19th on the offensive rating table, with an offensive rating of 112.5 and 17th on the defensive rating rank with a defensive rating of 114.4.

Injuries have been a thorn to the Hawks, with the rotation being the most affected. Trae Young continues to lead the franchise with pomp and flair despite lacking a matured supporting cast. After making the Eastern Conference Finals earlier in his career, many feel his time in Atlanta is up with the franchise failing to bring a strong superstar to pair him with and build a contending team.

On a positive note, rookie forward Zaccharie Risacher continues to offer glimpses of superstar potential, and is sure to be the next face of the franchise and a cornerstone to the team’s play in the coming years.

Key Players to Watch

  • Trae Young: Trae Young is a bonified NBA superstar. This season, Ice-Trey has been balling and is leading the team in scoring with 24.1 points per game as well as assists with 11.4 assists. On his day, Young can scorch any team in the league.
  • Caris LeVert: Caris LeVert has recently been tearing up opposing defenses much to the appreciation of the Hawks faithful. He is an impact scorer of the bench with his points coming in a variety of ways. LeVert is averaging 15.6 points per game for the season.
  • Dyson Daniels: Dyson Daniels has slotted in perfectly next to Trae Young in the process, forming one of the most exciting backcourt duos in the NBA. He compliments Young’s game while covering for his weaknesses. Daniels leads the team in steals with 3.1 steals per game which is by far the best in the NBA.

Atlanta Hawks Team News

Clint Capela is ruled out with a left hand ligament injury while Larry Nance Jr. is also out after suffering a knee injury.

Jalen Johnson suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season while Keaton Wallace and Jacob Toppin will be absent due to respective shoulder and elbow injuries.

Predicted Lineups

Dallas Mavericks Lineup

  • Point Guard: Spencer Dinwiddie
  • Shooting Guard: Max Christie
  • Small Forward: Klay Thompson
  • Power Forward: P.J. Washington
  • Center: Kai Jones

Atlanta Hawks Lineup

  • Point Guard: Trae Young
  • Shooting Guard: Dyson Daniels
  • Small Forward: Zaccharie Risacher

Value Bets

  1. Trey Young – To Achieve Over 10 Assists: Young has been the league leader in assists, given his record of an average of 11.4 assists per game, since February 2025. His playmaking has been instrumental to the Hawks and in their last encounter with the Dallas Mavericks, he achieved 10 assists. Therefore, this bet aligns with Young’s season performance.

  2. Klay Thompson – To Score Over 15.5 points – Thompson is the team’s best offensive player available on the floor. He has been carrying the Mavericks’ scoring load after a fair share of its main offensive soldiers had been out due to injuries. He will be seeking to showcase his scoring prowess in this game, making this prediction viable.

Prediction: Atlanta Hawks to Win

Head coach Quin Snyder has implemented a fast-paced offense that causes problems even to elite defenses when in full effect. On the other hand, the Mavericks are grappling with chemistry issues and a depleted roster marred by long-term injuries to its core players. Although they are sweating to make it to the play-in games, they have minimal chances of winning this game, considering the Hawks’ streamlined roster.
