Head-to-Head Record

The Cleveland Cavaliers have dominated this fixture in recent times, winning nine out of the ten previous matches. This current dominance is unheard of given the current competitive state of the NBA, but the Cavaliers have been a strong force in recent seasons.

Despite this dominance, it doesn’t reflect in the overall head-to-head, as the Chicago Bulls have 133 of the 237 regular season games. It’s evident that the Bulls used to dominate this fixture in yesteryear.

How is the season so far for both teams?

Cleveland Cavaliers

  • Record: 61-15
  • Home Form: 33-5
  • Road Form: 28-10

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 61-15 with six regular-season game seasons to go, and the first seed is within their grasp. The Cavaliers’ form dropped slightly when it was announced they were progressing through, having won five of their last ten games. It’s clear the organization is happy to secure a spot, but it’s now a matter of resting key players and ensuring match sharpness ahead of the playoffs.

28-year-old Donovan Mitchell is the franchise’s standout player, averaging 24 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists. He’s not quite matching his best seasons in all departments, but it’s evident to the NBA that he is a dangerous threat, irrespective of season form. Without Mitchell, the Cavaliers would be a weaker team, further highlighting his importance.

The franchise leader in assists is point guard Darius Garland, who is averaging 6.7 assists per game. Garland’s numbers in that department have seen a small regression based on previous seasons, but to make up for it, he is averaging 20+ points for the third time. The 25-year-old has played the most regular-season games over one season in his career, too, highlighting his dedication to his craft.

Chicago Bulls

  • Record: 34-42
  • Home Form: 15-23
  • Road Form: 19-19

As previously mentioned, it’s unclear where the Chicago Bulls will finish the season, but it is guaranteed they will feature in the postseason. The Bulls have won six of their last ten games and are in steady form and are in a similar vein of form to their close competitors surrounding them in the division. The Bulls will need to elevate their game if they are to claim a better seeding in the East, but securing a place in the postseason is a goal achieved regardless.

Coby White currently sits as the franchise leader with the most points made per game, boasting 20.4 for the season. White is averaging his best numbers in that regard, but it’s evident that the roster needs a standout shooter to take the organization to the next level. While he has upped his scoring, his numbers of 4.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds are lower than last season.

Another crucial player within the organization is Nikola Vucevic, and the 34-year-old plays a big role on both sides of the court. The center is averaging 18.5 points per game, and for the eighth consecutive season is averaging double figures in rebounds per game. His ten rebounds in this area places him 11th overall in the entire league.

Value Bets

  1. Donovan Mitchell: Over 25 Points and Over 5 Rebounds and Over 5 Assists

Donovan Mitchell has produced incredible output against the Bulls throughout his whole career, averaging 29.3 points and 5.8 rebounds and assists. These numbers will make him a massive threat on all sides of the court, and we believe that he will perform brilliant figures once again.

  2. Nikola Vucevic: Over 20 Points and Over 10 Rebounds

Nikola Vucevic is not only hard to guard, but his recent form against the Cavaliers will help the franchise in this one. He has averaged over 20 points and 8 rebounds in his last three games, leaving us to the consensus that he will replicate this once again. We opted to use at least rebounds to match his seasonal average.

Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers to Win

SportsBoom believes that the Cleveland Cavaliers will prevail in this matchup. The recent dominance in the head-to-head, the wide disparity in positions in the league and the lack of main shooters at the Bulls leave us with this final prediction. Both organizations arguably have nothing to play for, considering a place in the offseason is already gained, but it will be a fun game to watch, nevertheless.
