The Indiana Pacers have turned around their season, moving up the Eastern Conference standings to 5th place, with a 35-28 record. After making the conference finals last season, much was expected of this Indiana team. However, they have stagnated and failed to make the jump, compared to their rivals such as the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have one of the most promising rosters in the NBA but seem to lack the x-factor required to truly move into the next level and contend for the NBA title. The Pacers are in the race to secure an automatic playoff berth and will be motivated to claim the victory against a depleted Mavericks team. If you're looking to place a bet, check out betting sites with welcome bonus to maximize your value when backing your favorite team

On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks are the unluckiest team in the NBA. They are struggling with serious injuries to their star players and supporting cast as well as fan unrest due to trade of their franchise player and bonified league superstar, Luka Dončić, to the Los Angeles Lakers. After the trade deadline, their squad was built to immediately challenge for the NBA title but things have taken a turn for the worse and their short window of success paints a gloomy picture. The Mavericks are in 10th position on the standings with a 33-33 record to show for it.

Indiana Pacers: Current Form – LLLWW

  • Overall Record: 35-28
  • Home Record: 19-9
  • Away Record: 15-18

The Indiana Pacers are finally on track after beginning the season quite poorly. Last season’s Eastern Conference finalist have regressed after many expected them to be among the contenders in the East this season.

The Pacers hoped to draw from the player development well within their core, given last season’s success. Tyrese Haliburton production has dropped this season and his statistical numbers have taken a hit, mainly due to an erratic form that has affected the team’s overall play and efficiency.

Pascal Siakam is back to his best and has at times carried the Pacers to victory. Myles Turner continues to be one of the best post defenders in the league, while Bennedict Mathurin’s and Aaron Nesmith’s development are on a positive trajectory.

Once on track, the Pacers will pose a threat to many teams within the Conference due to their youth and ability to push the pace in games. This season, they currently rank eighth in offensive rating, with a score of 114.9.

Head coach Rick Carlisle hopes that his team gets back on track after a recent slump, which has seen teams below them catch up. They have been dominant in recent meetings and this game couldn’t have come at a better time considering the Mavericks’ injury issues.

Key Players to Watch

  • Pascal Siakam: Pascal Siakam has finally settled down after last season’s trade from the Toronto Raptors. Siakam is a menace on the court, with his infectious never-say-die attitude rubbing off among his teammates. This season, he is leading the team with 20.7 points per game and 7.1 rebounds to, both better than his career averages.
  • Tyrese Haliburton: It is as simple as this, if Tyrese Haliburton plays at the All-NBA level of last season, the Pacers are a very scary and dangerous team. This season, his form has at times been below par, but in their recent games, he is finally showing glimpses of his superstar potential. Haliburton is a walking double-double every night when he graces the court.
  • Myles Turner: Myles Turner has been ever-present for the Pacers since his rookie season. Turner is the team’s defensive anchor with his elite shot blocking ability, a boost for Indiana. His ability to stretch the floor from center position has diversified Pacers’ offensive capabilities and he is a one of the reasons behind their offensive rating being ranked top ten.

Indiana Pacers Team News

Currently, the Pacers have a clean bill of health with only Tyrese Haliburton being questionable due to niggling hip injury.

Dallas Mavericks: Current Form – WLLLL

  • Overall Record: 33-33
  • Home Record: 19-15
  • Away Record: 14-18

To state that the Dallas Mavericks haven’t lived up to the billing so far this season would be an understatement. Much was expected from the team after making it to the NBA Finals last season, coupled up with one of the best offseason roster shakeups. However, things have taken a whirlwind turn and the franchise is engulfed in turmoil.

The front office led by general manger Nico Harrison have been public enemy number one due to their decision to cut ties with their franchise superstar, Luka Dončić. As it stands, the Lakers won the deal since it has catapulted them to third place in the Western Conference standings.

On paper, the Mavericks boast one of the most impressive staring units, capable of dominating on both ends of the floor but as things stand, they will not be able to take the court this season as a result of injuries.

The Mavericks are still outside the automatic playoff places, but a play in spot is within their grasp. However, it is safe to say that this is a dead season to them.

Key Players to Watch

  • Klay Thompson: Klay Thompson has struggled in some games this season but as it stands, he is Maverick’s best player, among those available. Klay is still one of the best shooters in the NBA and he will be expected to carry the offensive burden despite averaging 14.5 points per game.
  • Max Christie: Max Christie has settled in pretty nicely in his new surrounding after being acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the Luka trade. Christie brings balance to the Mavericks backcourt with his elite defense and marksmanship from the 3-point line.
  • Naji Marshall: Naji Marshall’s play has been consistent despite being in and out of the starting line up as replacement due to injuries incurred by the starters. Marshall is a capable scorer and he will be required to carry some of the scoring responsibility for the Mavs.

Dallas Mavericks Team News

Kyrie Irving’s season is over after suffering an ACL injury. Anthony Davis is expected to miss the game along with fellow centers Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II who are out due to a Grade 3 right MCL sprain and a right ankle stress fracture respectively.

P.J. Washington who suffered an ankle injury will be an absentee. Jaden Hardy, Kai Jones and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are also likely to miss this contest.

Predicted Lineups

Indiana Pacers Lineup

  • Point Guard: Tyrese Haliburton
  • Shooting Guard: Andrew Nembhard
  • Small Forward: Aaron Nesmith
  • Power Forward: Pascal Siakam
  • Center: Myles Turner

Dallas Mavericks Lineup

  • Point Guard: Brandon Williams
  • Shooting Guard: Max Christie
  • Small Forward: Klay Thompson
  • Power Forward: Naji Marshall
  • Center: Dwight Powell

Value Bets

  1. Pascal Siakam: To Score Over 18.5 and 8.5 Rebounds – The Mavericks front court players are bewildered by injuries, weakening the franchise’s defense with some key players missing from the Mavericks, Siakam will most likely make easy shots.

  2. Myles Turner: To Score Over 10.5 Points – Pacers are expected to rely on Turner for scoring, given his ability to make enviable three-point shots. If the game turns out to be fast-paced, he will most likely exceed 11 points.

Prediction: Indiana Pacers to Win

The Pacers have strong players like Myles Turner and Tyrese Haliburton, whose offensive and defensive skills increase the likelihood of the Pacers to secure a win. The Pacers have registered excellent performances in recent matchups and if they employ the same momentum in this game, they are guaranteed victory over the Mavericks.
