Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

The Golden State Warriors have been competitive of late as they look to make the playoffs as an automatic team. They have been playing thrilling basketball, claiming amazing wins against their other playoff contenders. However, a recent loss to second-placed Houston Rockets slowed down their momentum. 

Fortunately, all is not lost on Steve Kerr’s team, as they have built scary chemistry, and they also have the most balanced roster in the West. They can go big or small while retaining all the attributes that make them a dangerous NBA title-contending team. Their rotational unit of Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield, Gary Payton II, Quinten Post and Kevon Looney has been selfless, taking turns in punishing opponents who fail to take them seriously as per their scouting report. 

Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski have enabled the Warriors to field their death lineup from the onset, which has resulted in them building sizeable leads before halftime, making it difficult for their opponents to catch up. A case in point is their 123-116 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers and their 118-104 victory over the Denver Nuggets.

The best is yet to come from this well-oiled machine, and in the playoffs, they are a problem regardless of their seeding.

The Los Angeles Clippers have caught many by surprise this season. They have been dominant and have dealt with the offseason departures of Paul George and Russell Westbrook to the best of their ability. Kawhi Leonard is finally healthy and free of niggling injuries that derailed the team’s success in recent years. 

Many expected the Clippers to tank, however, James Harden turned back the wheels of time and carried the team on his back, and other role players followed suit and rejuvenated their careers. Norman Powell has upped his scoring production since becoming a starter after years of being a sixth man, and Ivica Zubac's offensive role has massively improved. Bench production has greatly increased, especially with the acquisition of Ben Simmons, who is the secondary playmaker in the team.

Coach Tyronn Lue has found a way to be competitive in the unpredictable wild West; they are one of the outside NBA title contenders capable of pulling a surprise on their opponents.

One of their Achilles heel, though, is their dismal away record, which pales in comparison to their home record. Their brand new arena, the Intuit Dome, has been a revelation as it has enabled the team to build their fan base in the most impressive and modern facility.
