How is the season so far for both teams?

Los Angeles Clippers

  • Record: 29-23
  • Home Form: 18-10
  • Road Form: 11-13

The Los Angeles Clippers are currently the number seven seed in the West. The Clippers entered the New Year in fine form but are now 5-5 from their previous ten matches. The Clippers are yet to eclipse .500 on the road but are showcasing their best in front of their home crowd. The organization is in the mix for playoff contention in April.

Despite seeing a regression in form this season, James Harden is still one of the biggest names on the roster. He has made the most appearances in the team even though he is now 35 years old, showing his optimal fitness levels. Harden is averaging 21.3 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds, levels that still see him as the stat leader in assists and the second-highest scorer within the organization.

The Clippers’ leading scorer is Norman Powell, who is a key member of the starting five. Across 42 games, he is averaging 23.9 points per game, and the 31-year-old is posting the best numbers of his career. This is his first year as a starter in his career, and his team are reaping the rewards as a result.

Utah Jazz

  • Record: 12-39
  • Home Form: 5-18
  • Road Form: 7-21

The Utah Jazz’s record is 12-39 and are currently 14th in the West, but if they are not careful, they could fall to rock bottom in the Conference. It’s fair to say that the organization is likely not to make the playoffs, or perhaps even the play-in, but whether the franchise will come second bottom or bottom of the division is the question we all have.

23-year-old Walker Kessler is sixth in the entire league in rebounds per game, showcasing his threat on both sides of the court. Kessler is a key starter for the Jazz this season, and considering this is only his third season in the league, he will no doubt improve and could be a threat for this particular matchup. Despite missing the game against the Clippers earlier in the month, he is averaging an impressive 11.9 rebounds per game, which places him sixth overall in the league.

The Jazz’s star player is Finnish power forward Lauri Markkanen. Since arriving in Salt Lake City three seasons ago, he has made an impressive impression within the organization. However, this season, he has certainly struggled to post similar numbers as previous seasons, averaging 19.3 points and 6.2 rebounds. Markkanen is still the team’s stat leader, though, highlighting his importance.

Value Bets

  1. James Harden: Over 25 Points and Over 7 Assists

James Harden is our first valued bet because of his reliability. In the two games he has played against the Jazz this season, he has posted 20 points and 11 assists, and then an impressive 41 points in the previous matchup. His ability is unquestionable, and despite his age, he can replicate these performances. Harden also recorded a triple-double in the last year, an impressive feat.

  2. Lauri Markkanen: Over 15 Points and Over 10 Assists

We predict Lauri Markkanen to record a double-double in this match. He has done this in on four occasions in his last six meetings against the Clippers, as well as recording nine or more rebounds in 11 of his last 12 meetings. We expect him to complete a double-double, and these stats back up our prediction.

Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers to win

We predict the Los Angeles Clippers will prevail. After all, the team are better in every area now. They’ve won four of their last five games, they have a better roster, and they should win once again. The Utah Jazz is struggling for form, and considering their place in the West, it’s hard to select them as our winner.
