The New York Knicks and the Miami Heat have contested in 139 regular season games throughout the history of the NBA. The franchise has produced 73 wins, whereas the Heat are slightly worse off, winning only 66 games.

How is the season so far for both teams?

New York Knicks

  • Record: 40-22
  • Home Form: 21-11
  • Road Form: 19-11

The New York Knicks will likely solidify the third seed in the Eastern Conference after taking a minor hit in form. The organization has a 6-4 record from their last ten games but seems out of reach of the second seed in front of them.

Karl-Anthony Towns is posting 24.5 points per game, which is a very high standard for those who operate in the center position. Towns may be placed 17th overall in the league in shooting, but his standout quality is operating on both sides of the court. He is averaging 13.4 rebounds per game too, placing him second overall.

Jalen Brunson is the franchise’s best player in all attacking statistics, establishing himself as one of the best point guards in the league. His averages of 26.1 points place him seventh in the NBA, but it has to be said he displays impressive creativity in providing for his teammates. Brunson is averaging 7.4 assists per game, placing him eighth too, showing his attacking threat within the roster.

Miami Heat

  • Record: 29-32
  • Home Form: 15-12
  • Road Form: 13-20

The Miami Heat have felt the absence of Jimmy Butler following his trade to the Golden State Warriors, but the franchise is still seventh in the Eastern Conference. The franchise has a winning record at home but on the road struggle to find their feet, posting a record below .500. The Heat might look out of the question regarding a playoff battle but are likely to make it through to the post-season.

25-year-old Tyler Herro is enjoying his best season in the NBA. He is averaging an impressive 23.9 points per game, his best career record throughout the season, coming back superbly from an injury ridden campaign from the previous year. In addition to his points accumulation, he is averaging career highs of 5.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds, showing his true capabilities on all sides of the court.

Since joining the franchise as part of the trade deal, 30-year-old Andrew Wiggins has played six games within the past 4-5 weeks. His limited appearances may not have been what the Heat expected, but he is averaging 17.8 points, 3.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. His performance in the former is his best across a season since 2020/21, which was his second season in San Francisco.

Value Bets

  1. Jalen Brunson - Over 15 Points and Over 5 Assists: Jalen Brunson’s past historical performances against the Heat don’t reflect his performances this season. Brunson is averaging only 19.5 points and 5.5 assists across 15 games; therefore, our value bets see him post at least 15 points and 5 assists at least. His recent games against the Heat have seen much stronger numbers produced, but we think it’s fair to suggest he will post at least 15 points.

  2. Andrew Wiggins - Over 15 Points and Over 5 Rebounds: With Brunson projected to show his attacking threat, our second value bet sees Andrew Wiggins produce the goods on defense. Wiggins will no doubt score at least 15 points, having completed this feat in 14 of his last 15 games, but we expect him to post at least 5 rebounds. This will be his first game in Miami colours playing against the Knicks.

Prediction: New York Knicks to win

SportsBoom have concluded that the New York Knicks will come out on top. The Knicks have dominated proceedings in recent times in the head-to-head, winning five out of the last six matches. The Knicks may be struggling slightly in very recent form, but the Heat are weaker overall within their roster, leaving us to suggest that the Knicks can complete the task at hand.
